About Canon EOS

Canon Video Cameras

With its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, Canon Inc. is a multinational firm that is popularly known for its exclusive range of products in the imaging and optical domain. Canon makes cameras, video cameras, computer printers, photocopiers and a lot more. As such, the company also has a large market share worldwide, when it comes to cameras and camcorders.

History of Canon Video Cameras

Canon was founded in the year 1937 and as an optical instruments laboratory. The first of its camera models saw them use Nikon’s Nikkor lenses, as it did not have the facilities to develop optical glass. Canon then continued to introduce several camera models, of which, many of them were innovative.

Canon first tryst with video cameras happened between 1956 and 1982, when the company made several film-based cameras meant for shooting movies. It has released several models during this time, before delving into the digital camcorder market in the 90s and 2000s. At present the company manufactures several camcorder models belonging to many different series. Some of these are HR, HG, HF, ZR and XF series.

Popularity in India

Canon was one of the earliest manufacturers to enter the Indian camcorder market. Also, its bright legacy and brand value brought much needed advertisement for its camcorders.

Despite the fact that Sony’s camcorders are a huge draw in the country, Canon has done very well in the business too. The company’s presence in India is one of the factors behind this. In fact, it is not very hard to find Canon’s stores and retailers around the major towns and cities. Also, there are a huge number of service centers that makes it easy for after sales services that are often required from time to time.

Design of Canon Video Cameras

Canon’s camcorder products have the obvious design that is generally the norm for other similar products. There are both, consumer and professional models that make up the lineup. The material of make for these video cameras is mostly plastic and metal. Professional camcorders are rather large in size and also a lot heavier compared to the consumer based ones.

The camcorders have lenses in the front face, with the viewfinder on the opposite end. The LCD that is present can be flipped out and also curled into the body when not in use. These also offer 360 degree swivel features. Buttons for operations are found below the viewfinder and often at the sides. The Canon branding is present in the front portion for the most part.

Very often, there are numerous color choices available for these camcorder models. However, for the professional camcorders they are largely black in color.

Features of Canon Video Cameras

Canon’s camcorder range offers multiple modern day features that assists in capturing quality videos under all conditions. For starters they have support for high resolution videos that range from HD to even Ultra HD for the professional variants. Optical zooming capabilities are also large and lie anywhere between 10x and 50x. When it comes to the sensors used for capturing videos, they make use of either CCD or CMOS, for the best quality reproduction of images.

Canon’s camcorders are provided with several options for settings. This allows users to capture moments of the choice in their desired manner. Some of the features you can look forward to are optical image stabilization, proper digital zooming, good quality sound, and much more.

Camcorders also support several storage formats and memory cards. They are powered by Li-ion batteries that provide long hours of recording.
