Development of a leading global endeavor
Haier group came into existence in 1920's as a household appliance manufacturing company in Qingdao, China. At that time, the company diverted all its attention to making refrigerators. After the establishment of communist government, it was taken over by the government, only to be marketed as Qingdao Refrigerator Co in 1984.
Within years, the company shot to fame with their refrigerators and gradually took control of Qingdao Microwave Electric Appliances Factory. By another 10 years, Haier TVs came into existence followed by manufacturing of air conditioners and freezers.
After their listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Haier Corporation built its first factory abroad in Indonesia. This was followed by factories in Philippines and Singapore. By the end of 20th century, Haier emerged as an appliance manufacturing superpower with their New York City office and manufacturing plant in US.
Gradual growth worldwide
Ever since their emergence in China, Haier has been looking for partnerships from companies abroad. Thus it entered into a collaboration with Liebherr. This led to its growth by over 83%. Haier TV came as a direct byproduct of the utilization of efficient technology.
With production plants in Indonesia and Philippines, Haier aimed to capture a significant portion of the appliances market. With this, they made their way into US and started competing with GE, Maytag, and Whirlpool.
In 2002, they extended their sales to Pakistan and Jordan. It took control of European retail chains selling home appliance goods. By 2004, Haier occupied a significant portion of the market in South and South East Asia as well.
Acceptance in the global scene
Haier Corporations entered the Indian market in 2004 thus laying tracks for an immense competition. Haier's dealerships spread across the nation with HQs in metro cities. Their product is popular for long lasting capabilities and is one of the top 20 brands in this segment.
The reliability of their products especially Haier TVs, refrigerators and air conditioners very soon surpassed Whirlpool. It sold more than 12 million refrigerators worldwide. Global share roe to 6.3%. In 2016, Haier acquired GE appliance division succeeded by Fisher and Paykel.
