Asus Tablets

Taiwanese hardware and electronics firm ASUSTeK Inc.’s entry into smartphones and tablets, although late have surely been in the limelight for the past couple of years. With its range of Fonepad, ZenPad, MeMO Pad, and Transformer series of tablet computers, the computer giants have shown the world of its abilities to produce a bunch of finely crafted devices.

History of Asus Tablets

Asus doesn’t have long history when it comes to the manufacturing of tablet computers. Its first foray in to the segment happened in 2012, when it partnered Google to release the Nexus 7 tablet. This happened to be a major success, although it was the first of kind for both the company’s involved.

The following year Asus launched the Fonepad series that is available to date. This was followed by a number of launched in 2014, which consisted of the MeMO Pad, VivoTab and the Transformer Pads and Books. In 2015, the comp-any added another line to its already existing rich lineup with the ZenPad.

Popularity in India

India’s tryst with Asus tablets has been largely successful. Considering that these devices are very widely available throughout the country and also for its affordable pricing, one can find plenty of people using Asus tablets.

Asus has also scored heavily with the design and the pricing factor. The tablets are easily available through major online platforms, as is the case with major technology retailers as well. There are a number of service centers too that will help you sort out any issues that may arise at times. Overall, one can say that Asus’ tablet range has been pretty well received by the Indian audience.

Design of Asus Tablets

Asus’ tablets have a very unique design and a certain wow factor about them. They are largely rectangular in shape, with rounded edges. The Transformer Book although is basically a hybrid tablet computer and has a keyboard to which it can be attached. Construction of these tablets is mostly with metal alloys and polycarbonate. The devices are largely light and also happen to be pretty sturdy.

Asus offers various screen sized when it comes to its range of tablets. However, the most commonly available sizes are 7 and 8 inches. Almost all of the tablets have HD displays and feature an IPS LCD multi-touch screen. Corning Gorilla Glass is used as a protection means as well.

The back of the tablets carry the Asus branding along with Intel’s for those powered by Atom processors. Various color options are also available for the user.

Features of Asus Tablets

A majority of the tablets from Asus are powered by Intel processors. The Atom processor, which is mainly meant for mobile devices, is the obvious choice here. The tablets have around 1GB of RAM, whereas the Transformer Book can have up to 4GB of it. For internal storage options, they start at around 8GB and go upwards. Memory can also be expanded with the help of a micro-SD card slot that is provided with a majority of the tablets.

For connectivity, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth happen to be the obvious options, along with micro USB. Other than the Transformer Book, all the tablets have cellular connectivity options. They also support 3G/4G LTE options.

As for the camera on these tablets, both rear and front cameras are provided. They offer quality shots and videos, along with a number of additional features.

All tablets come with commonly used sensors, such as proximity, accelerometer and ambient light. They are powered by Li-ion batteries that provide many hours of usage at a go.
