About Micromax Funbook

Micromax Funbook

Micromax is the largest Indian seller of cellphones in India. Micromax Funbook tablets are amongst the latest tablets that are offered as budget friendly devices in the market today.

History of Micromax Funbook series

Micromax has established itself as a major player in the Indian smartphone market. However, the company has also taken to manufacturing tablets as well.

In February 2014, the company commenced the Funbook series of tablets to cater to the budget segment of the Indian tablet market. These tablets are powered by Android operating systems. Different models have been produced since then.

Popularity in India

A tablet is one of the most versatile devices that proves to be an even mix of a smartphone’s and a computer’s capabilities. Micromax has come a long way with its hugely successful smartphones in the country. In fact, the company has launched many tablets at affordable prices as well. With the latest Funbook series of tablets, the company provides youngsters an opportunity to own a tablet even if they can’t pay for an expensive Galaxy Tab or an iPad.

Design of Micromax Funbook series

The Micromax Funbook tablets are designed especially for people within a strict budget. They usually come encased with a sturdy body made of polycarbonate and also have a textured rear panel in certain models. The devices are slim and are pretty easy to hold and carry.

Depending on the model, some come with a free lustrous keyboard and a leather case. The tablets are usually available in 7 inches and higher TFT displays with multi-touch capacitive touchscreens. In addition, they also offer wide viewing angles through IPS technology.

The primarily colours that these tablets come in are black and silver. Overall, the Funbook series of tablets are attractive if not very stylish as other high-end offerings.

Features of Micromax Funbook series

The Funbook tablets are powered by dual or quad-core MediaTek processors. They are accompanied by a Mali GPU and at least 512MB of RAM. The tablets run on Android’s Jelly Bean OS or higher. They come with an internal storage of at least 4GB that can be extended further with a micro-SD card.

Many of the models offer dual camera support. These tablets come with a 2/5MP back camera with video recording and 4x digital zoom facilities. The 0.3/2MP front facing camera can be used for video calling.

The Funbook tablets are pre-loaded with a lot of entertainment and educational apps. For example, you can choose your favourite movie via the BIGFlix app in English, Hindi, and various regional languages. The educational apps provide study material from primary classes to post graduate and papers for MBA, medical and engineering examinations. They also support audio formats like WAV, MP3 etc and HD video playback formats like MPEG2, MPEG4, MOV, WMV and AVI. In some models, a TV mode offers live television streaming.

These tablets can be used for calling, just like with a normal phone. You can be connected with a SIM card and options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and more. An additional option is a micro USB port for PC connectivity.

Moreover, with a standard 2400mAh or higher Li-Ion battery, one can get up to 5 hours of talk time.
