About Sony MP3 Players

Music lovers all over the world cherish the design and clarity that Sony Music players offer. Originating with the Walk man series, the current series of Sony MP3 players have been an extremely successful venture. With their new models in place, Sony looks to re-capture this vast Indian market.

Sony MP3 Players Prepare to Take on Apple iPod Head-On

Music is love and choice of music varies. But it was Sony who gave a new dimension to the world of Walkman and mp3 players. Originally obtainable as cassette players, Sony walk man became the order of the day and served as a style statement. With the advancement in technology, Sony MP3 players came into existence.

From Walk-man to MP3 players

Portability issue of tape recorders and music players compelled Sony to come up with their Walkman series in 1979. With over 30,000 units sold in the first quarter, it combined the power of a compact music device with necessary accessories.

By the end of 20th century, Sony Walkman series gained enough significance and stormed the market. It occupied a 50% share in portable music players industry in the US and over 40% in Japan. Soon after that, with the advent of CD players, Sony's MP3 player series suffered a setback.

Recovering from the hit, Sony MP3 players came into the market with a memory and provision for storage. Sony promises the new range of mp3 players to be unique and offers high clarity audio.

Sony's Global reach

With the evolution in music player industry in terms of competitiveness, Sony decided to install high end features on a budget mp3 player. Owners could directly copy their mp3 content and play their music. Very soon, Sony jukeboxes flooded the Japanese market.

Although the manufacturer faced tough competition from Apple, new technology improvements furthered sales. With a huge market in UK and US, Sony diverted its attention to Asian crowds. With options for Connect Store and Link Shuffle, Sony's 2007 offering had 1/2GB storage options.

In Japan, however, E series became a huge hit, and newer E00X series flooded dealerships all across the country. Gradually it moved into Australia and New Zealand markets only to be sold as E01X series. Later NW-Z and W series entered the market with Clear Bass and Clear Stereo options.

Official Stores of Sony

Ever since its launch, Sony's Walkman series occupied a major market share in portable MP3 players. It not only had its stores in Japan, but also expanded its reach to Korea and parts of China.

Within 10 years, Sony MP3 players underwent a rise in sales by 30%. Their global hold escalated covering all the South-East Asian countries having more than 750 official stores on an average in all these nations. In India alone, it has close to 900 dealerships and 800 service centers.

Entry into the Indian scene

With their emergence in Asia and European countries, Sony finally diverted its attention to India. By 2004, Sony Walkman and MP3 players were available in the Indian market. Although the Indian demand for portable music players was comparatively lower, its exclusive styling and sound clarity attracted everyone's attention.

Sony MP3 Players give a tough competition to iPod Nano and Apple's series of music players with display. Currently available models like NWZ and B series come with decent storage options and Bluetooth connectivity.
