About Acer Liquid
Acer, a Taiwanese global company, primarily offers hardware and electronics products and also happens to be one of the largest vendor of personal computers in the market. However, just like a number of other vendors, even Acer has stepped up to the task and has released a number of smartphones, most notable of which is its Liquid series of Android devices.
History of the Liquid series
Acer’s Liquid series debuted in 2009. It was also the first Android device to make use of the Snapdragon line of processors and ran Android v1.6. Although a lot has changed since then, Acer presently has a number of devices in the market that offer a complete set of smartphone functionalities that make it ideal for modern day users.
Popularity in India
Acer was one of the few players to enter the Indian smartphone market. From 2007-2009, the company offered a number of high-end devices for an emerging market that was particularly still dominated by Nokia.
Moving further to the third quarter of 2014, Acer reestablished a new target with the launching of a newer Liquid series phones. This time, the company has been looking to capture a chunk of market share in the mid-range and entry-level price segment.
Acer phones, although not very largely found, have a good number of users in India. Primarily, these phones can be acquired from a number of e-tailers in the present market.
The designs of the Acer’s Liquid series sport a very solid design. Unlike Indian smartphone makers that provide cheap build quality, Acer phones in this series have very stylish looks, which certainly bring out a good vibe. They usually feature rounded curves on the top and the bottom that give it a certain niche. The screen size usually varies with the specific model, but mostly one can expect sizes of 4 inch, 5 inches and upwards. Also, the screen comes with Gorilla Glass from Corning, which means they are scratch resistant and can absorb mediocre shocks. One can also look forward to a number of colors to choose from, in the Liquid series.
Acer’s Liquid series of phones are usually known to run on Android versions 4.0 or up, mostly the KitKat version. Other devices in the series offer lower resolutions. A majority of these devices are also usually powered by Mediatek SoCs (system-on-chip) while some do make use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon line of processors. As for physical memory, they usually come with an inbuilt storage capacity of 4GB, 8GB or 16GB and external memory slots that support micro-SD cards. The RAM features are either 1GB or 2GB depending on the model. Other features of the phone are HSPA+ and single or dual SIM support.
The high-end phones usually feature HD/full HD IPS displays that offer crystal clear and crisp viewing from all angles. Acer has always been known for providing top-notch display quality. Cameras that come with the Liquid series of phones are well known for their quality and offers great shots. The majority of the phones come with an 8MP/13MP back camera and a 2MP front camera for selfies. The batteries on these phones are pretty good since most are equipped with an 2000mAh or higher.
On the whole, one can expect the basic and many of the premium functionalities that are generally incorporated into smartphones these days.
The latest announcement from Acer’s was at the MWC in March 2015, where they announced the launch of Liquid Jade Z, Liquid Z220, and the Liquid Z520. Two of the devices will run on the latest version of Android, i.e. Lollipop, while the Z520 will be running on KitKat.
