About Coolpad Mobile Phones
The smartphone industry is aiming for nothing short of a global consumer and market presence. Competition is tough and make-or-break. It's in this market scenario that Coolpad mobiles are looking to increase their foothold with high value-for-features devices.
Coolpad Mobiles: The Chinese Mammoth's going Global
Coolpad Mobiles fall under the Coolpad Group Limited, a public sector company following up from the former name of China Wireless Technologies Limited. Previously one of the largest smartphone manufacturing companies in China, they're now going global with their range of smartphones.
History and Background
Coolpad's history starts off with Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific, the current subsidiary arm. Yulong's the seed behind what is now the Coolpad Group. Starting off in 1993, Yulong was a venture with partnerships between the Shenzen University Cultural Technology Services and Dickman Enterprises of Hong Kong. Guo Deying was the first chairman of Yulong and is now the largest shareholder of this manufacturer behind Coolpad Mobiles.
After the incorporation of China Wireless Technologies as an offshore holding company, Yulong took to the stock markets. It was floated on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 2002. Following up, 2003 saw Yolong manufacturing China's first CDMA1X smartphone with pioneering technologies such as handwriting input functions. 2005 saw their standalone integration of both CDMA and GSM network architectures in one single setup.
Continuing into the second decade, Coolpad Mobiles was among the leading products in the humongous Chinese smartphone market competing against global giants like Huawei, Lenovo, Samsung, Apple, etc.
2014 came as the date for officially renaming China Wireless Technologies as Coolpad Group as it continues now. Financial struggles did ensue during China's economic downturn even after a name in Forbes' Asia Fab 50 Companies 2015 listing.
2016 saw them selling an 80% stake of their subsidiary arm Shenzen Coolpad Mobile Tech Chinese company SuperD which specializes in Augmented-Reality and Virtual Reality techs.
Cooplad has a global market footprint, although its primary consumer base still lies in South-East Asia. Other markets include the USA and additional North American countries, Eastern Europe and most recently, India.
Official stores in India spread across the metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, etc. With the Indian smartphone market showing a huge potential for growth over the coming years, Coolpad is gearing up to increase their presence exponentially across every single state. They have opened stand-alone shops at remote consumer stratum including Shillong and Agartala.
For an Indian market always looking for exceptional value-for-money, Coolpad needs to create a brand identity first. It's safe to say that they're not as popular in this Indian smartphone market as Samsung or even Xiaomi. Since their launch, they're selling in above the 1 million mark already. Popularity is only going to follow.
Coolpad Mobiles for India
The manufacturers are going all out for this Indian market by releasing their best product line-up. Their motive is to provide Indian buyers with a gallery of features at a price range well under any other product from competing manufacturers producing the same features. Coolpad Mobiles are aiming at value-for-features more than value-for-money.
