First, a smart casual outfit requires a collar. A safe bet would be a button-down shirt. When in doubt, go for a long-sleeved one, and fold it if you feel like you look too formal. Otherwise, you can also opt for a short-sleeved button-down shirt. Blazers aren't required, but they give a more dapper look to an outfit.

As for bottoms, khakis, chinos, and trousers are safe bets. If you must wear jeans, make sure that they're slim-fit, dark, and free from any rips and tears.

Lastly, for the shoes, boots, loafers, and brogues are your best bet. You can wear sneakers, sure, but it's much safer to be dressed up than dressed down.

A smart casual attire is often the dress code for informal yet important parties, dinners, and interviews. They can also sometimes be the dress code for any event in a fancy restaurant, hotel, or just an expensive place. Knowing what a smart casual outfit will definitely save you the stress of not knowing exactly what you're allowed to wear.
