About HP Pavilion

HP Pavilion

The Pavilion series of notebooks from Hewlett-Packard are some of the most popular notebooks. While the Envy series of notebooks and Ultrabooks caters to the high-end market, the Pavilion series is specifically meant for the mid-range market.

History of HP Pavilion series

The Pavilion series was primarily launched in 1995, and that too as a desktop model. The Pavilion notebook models came much later and in 2004 some of the initial models in the series were the Pavilion dv 1000 series models. The dv4, dv5 and dv7 were introduced later in 2008. However, many of these later models were discontinued and merged into the Envy lineup in 2012.

At present, HP has 6 lineups of several models in the Pavilion series. These are Pavilion 14, 15, 17, x2, x360 11 and x360 13.

Popularity in India

HP had forayed into the Indian PC market in 2002, when it was at a booming stage. Early market capture, along with its quality products and services has enabled the company to enjoy a large presence in the country. Also, the company is easily among the top most PC sellers in the India.

The Pavilion series of desktops and notebooks are very popular. Since they are largely affordable, they are a great option for home based users, students and even small-scale business professionals.

Design of HP Pavilion series

The HP Pavilion series of notebooks are very well-designed. They feature a plastic build, but one that is very strong and sturdy. Appearance wise too they are very attractive. A number of color combinations are available, such as red-black, blue-black, silver, black, white, red and more.

They feature IPS LED screens that come in various sizes from 11 to 17 inches. They also come with a HD/FHD display, which means that you get crystal clear graphics and colors. Along with this, the notebooks have a full size backlit keyboard and a gesture-based trackpad. Many of the models also permit touch-based usage.

The x360 and x2 devices are generally hybrid touch laptops and can be folded to appear as a tablet. Pavilion notebooks aren’t very bulky and only weigh around 2.2/3 kilograms.

Features of HP Pavilion series

HP Pavilion models are powered by processors from both, Intel and AMD. AMD models are generally the cheaper of the two. The Intel models feature Pentium Dual Core/Quad Core, Atom, Core i3/i5/i7 processors. An integral GPU or a discrete one from AMD Radeon/Nvidia are made available for better graphics processing. RAM availability differs between the many models in the lineup and it is either 2/4/8GB DDR3 memory. Storage options also go upwards from 500GB to 1TB.

Pavilion devices are mostly known to run Windows versions. However, these notebooks are also available with Ubuntu or DOS.

Numerous connectivity options are present on the Pavilion series laptops. First off, you have USB Type-C (in few makes), USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. In addition, you can also find an Ethernet port, a HDMI port, a SD card slot and an audio jack for headphones. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also available for wireless connectivity. An optical disk drive is also provided in most models.

For multimedia purposes, the Pavilion laptops have dual speakers, either from BeatsAudio or Bang & Olufsen. They also come with a microphone and a TrueVision HD camera.

A 4-cell Li-Ion battery is usually provided with the Pavilion notebooks that allows up to 6 of usage.
