History of the Dell Inspiron series
Initially, the Inspiron series was introduced by Dell in the 90s as an entry level brand of notebooks. However, it gradually went on to deal with the mid-budget market segment and that is where it stands at present.

Smaller models are powered by the specially designed Intel Atom lineup. Most models feature an integrated graphics processor. However, there are certain models that come with an additional GPU from other brands.
Availability of RAM ranges between 2 and 8GB. However, a machine with 4GB of RAM is pretty powerful enough to handle regular tasks and multitasking. Storage options also vary. You can expect anything from a 160GB to 1TB SATA HDD.
For software, users have various choices. One can opt for notebooks that come preloaded with Windows 7/8/8.1 or even Linux distros such as Ubuntu. Ones that come with just DOS, is also available.
For connectivity options on these notebooks, you have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet port, USB ports and more. A web camera and microphone can also be found and can help with video calling. An audio jack for headphones is also made available on the Inspiron series of notebooks.
With a Dell Inspiron notebook, you can expect an average battery life of roughly 3 hours.
