Microsoft Laptops and Other Products Dreaming Big with India:
Microsoft is a household name, a pan-global household name. They were the pioneers behind today's expanse of computers and computing devices along with software programs. In an IT industry which is still expanding to newer fields of application, India has come up as a hotspot. And that too, not just as a consumer market for Microsoft laptops and other products, but also as a manufacturing hub.
Birth of an IT Empire:
Founding fathers Paul Allen and Bill Gates take their first trysts into applying their computer programming know-how in 1972 as Traf-O-Data. It all starts off as a system to track and analyze automobile traffic data. But it was not until April 4, 1975, that Microsoft comes into the fray.
An abbreviation for 'microcomputers' and 'software,' this name's Allen's gray brainchild. Their first office, ASCII Microsoft, was a result of a venture with Japanese mag ASCII Magazine.
Not Windows, instead their first product in the software comes as Xenix, following up from the already existing Unix in 1980. Their first contract came from IBM to provide them with a CP/M OS.
Releasing the OS/2 jointly in 1985, the first Microsoft Windows hits the market on November 20 the same year. From the most basic pointers, Windows was nothing but a graphical extension of an existing DOS setup with additional user interface value.
1990 saw them introduce an office suite, a software bundle office function applications. Including the likes of Word and Excel, this was only the start of everything Windows is now.
The first Microsoft laptops come in the form of their Surface series in 2012. This was their first device coming with Microsoft hardware inside. Launching alongside their Windows 8.1 OS, the manufacturers are hinting towards a feature where computing devices integrate mobile features.
Considering that Windows 7 alone continues to hold nearly 50% of the global computer OS share, there's no doubt that Microsoft is the biggest name around in the software industry. Overall, they do not face any competition with the likes of Apple's Mac OS series coming up only as an alternative. Mac OS X 10.12 holds 3.52% of this share, the only other PC OS worth consideration. As for Microsoft computing devices, the manufacturers sell off nearly 17 million devices across 5 years.
Everyone knows 'Microsoft':
Microsoft simply means Windows OS. Coming up with the basic OS for any PC except Apple ones, Microsoft is an obvious name. Considering their devices, there are numerous users still sticking to their Microsoft smartphone, along with numerous others preferring a Microsoft laptop over other manufacturers. The reason's simple, users will obviously prefer a device using Microsoft device with its OS.
