Khaitan got incorporated as a private limited company in 1975 before converting to a public limited company in 1982. It was set up by Shri SK Khaitan, the chairman of Khaitan group of companies.
The direction and objective for the company was clear – to manufacture both industrial and ventilating fans as well as household electric fans to suit the needs and requirements of the buyers.
The first plant of Khaitan Electric Fans was set up in Faridabad to manufacture a wide range of fans. A second plant was set up at Tarapur and a third in Noida in 1985.
In the next few years realising the need to expand, the company made a rights issue of 12,50,000 equity shares of Rs.10 each. This let them supplement long term resources with a clear revenue model in place.
Thereafter, Khaitan started introducing air coolers as part of their new range of products followed by other home appliances.
Pan India presence
Khaitan was always conscious about not limiting itself to one particular region of the country. Today they have offices in all major Indian cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Patna, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Kanpur, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad and several others.
Their products are available in upwards of 80,000 retail outlets with a distribution network comprising 50 distributors and 5,000 dealers. The company is also listed under Bombay and National Stock Exchange.
The company reported a sales turnover of about 294 crores in the financial year of 2016 and retained its position as a market leader.
