Catering to almost every single possible consumer stratum, Sony DVD / Blu-ray Players and other products look to expand even further starting with the Indian market.
Sony DVD / Blu-ray Players Leading the Change in India
Hitachi, Panasonic and Sony comprise of a group of Japanese tech giants leading an ongoing era of technological advancements. More than revenues and sales, Sony is undoubtedly one of the pioneers across multiple tech product fields including Sony DVD / Blu-ray Players and cameras et al. They look to consolidate on their current position globally with an additional emphasis on a rising Indian market.
A Sony History
Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita are the founding fathers of this now global giant. Starting off in 1958 with just 8 employees, they set up Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo or Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation. Pioneering was their primal motto which still continues today as they manufacture Japan's maiden tape recorder.
Naming it the Type G, they further change their company name to Sony. Relating themselves to the Japanese slur 'sonny boys' or 'bright young men', they rename their company as Sony.
Microelectronics – this is what propels Sony into the limelight. Debuting in the US circa 1960, they continue with audio portables foraying into multimedia and information technology. Compact Discs (CDs), PlayStation, Box Office, PCs – these Japanese are true-blue pioneers.
On the Global Market
As per 2016 revenue sheets, Sony comes in as the 10th largest technology company by revenue and 9th largest as per market capital. Their 3-year successive rise in sales (2012-2015) follows up with a slight loss in 2016. Primarily coming down to their withdrawal from the smartphone segment, they look to revive their figures in their standalone product strengths.
SONY has a global reach encompassing all economic regions. They, however, aim at consolidating their position in India, a market which continues to show huge potential in multimedia and information technology.
Brand Sony
For buyers, SONY simply means top-end tech and performance as a guarantee without compromise. With a huge field of offerings across diverse products, they have one of the highest brand trust-ratings around.
Further, they aim to provide the whole spectrum of buyers with consumer-end requirements. They have a repertoire of industry-leading technologies that are mass-production ready. Along with this, they offer entry level products too catering to a larger consumer market.
Sony DVD / Blu-ray Players and More in the Indian Market
Moving away from the smartphone market and concentrating solely in other segments, Sony looks to reinvigorate its Indian market situation. 2015 sees them register more than INR 10,000 crores turnover in India alone. Matter of fact, this country continues to be their 4th largest overall market after Japan, USA and China.
These Japanese giants now concentrate solely on other products such as Sony DVD / Blu-ray Players, TVs etc. They have one of the largest market reach with numerous dealers and service centers. Considering their ready-for-serving brand recognition, they look to eclipse competing manufacturers for a larger share.
