About Dell Inspiron
Dell Inspiron Desktops
Dell Inc. designs and markets the Inspiron series of desktop computers. The Inspiron line, very much like its notebook counterpart, is seen as an entry-level to mid-budget offering.
History of Dell Inspiron desktops
The Inspiron line of desktops was introduced in June 2006. As a result, they replaced the earlier Dimension series from Dell. The first Inspiron model was called the Inspiron 530, following which there have been several other releases.
At present, Dell Inspiron has a 3000 series for tower and all-in-one desktops, along with a 5000 all-in-one offering, which is a premium desktop series.
Popularity in India
Dell is a well-known brand in the Indian PC market. Just like its laptop models, the Inspiron desktops are also pretty much in demand. They serve well as basic desktop computer models for home or businesses. The Inspiron desktops are also pretty popular among students. The Dell Inspiron competes with the likes of Lenovo Essentials, Compaq Presario, HP, HCL and other such brands.
Design of Dell Inspiron desktops
Like almost any other PC lineups these days, Dell Inspiron also has all-in-one and tower desktops. The all-in-one models are compact and sleek models that happen to be very well-designed. And for the tower desktops too, the Inspiron models feature a slim cabinet design that occupies less space.
The monitor is optional and you can go for one that suits your needs. Some great options are a 22 inch touch monitor or a 20/23 inch monitor from Dell itself. The displays are also ones that feature IPS LED technology and boast of a full HD resolution. For the keyboard and mouse, you can go with the standard wired devices or wireless ones (all-in-ones have wireless). You can also choose from several other Dell accessories, that are available, to customize your desktop PC.
Features of Dell Inspiron desktop series
Dell desktops are powered by Intel processors that range from Pentium to Core i3/i5/i7. Graphics processor is in-built and that supports graphical applications. Primary memory varies and largely ranges between 2 and 8GB. One point to note here is that the Inspiron desktops do not have an additional slot for memory expansion (some all-in-ones have). The storage offered is either 500GB or 1TB.
Inspiron PCs run on Windows operating systems with the latest releases running on Windows 8. You can also count on some models to feature Ubuntu Linux. In addition, they come with a year-long McAfee LiveSafe subscription and a trial for Microsoft Office 2013.
For wireless connectivity options, you can rely on WLAN and Bluetooth. Wired connectivity is also available with Ethernet, USB, VGA and HDMI ports. A card reader slot is also available, along with a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Inspiron all-in-one’s also have integrated speakers with Waves MaxxAudio. They also have a jack for microphone. The small desktops have 3 audio jacks that can support 5.1 audio systems.
Very recently, Dell announced that the company was ready to support startups in India, as they were looking for unique and disruptive solutions.
