About TATA Cars
The Indian conglomerate TATA is a world renowned name. It's vehicular segment started off before India's independence and continues to grow today. Over the years TATA Cars have diversified themselves, and now it features in different segments like SUV, Hatchbacks and Sedans.
TATA Cars: An insignia of all Indian's progress and productivity
Easily one of the most recognizable brands in India, TATA continues to be nothing short of a backbone for this Indian economy. Other than being prominent leaders in the Indian commercial vehicle industry, TATA cars have a history entwining with this country.
An Indian History:
TATA Cars are products of TATA Motors Ltd., the conglomerate's automotive division. It produces passenger vehicles along with commercial vehicles and military equipment.
Initially founded in 1945, it started doing business in locomotive production. But gradually it expanded dealings to other automotive production sectors. And in 1954, it officially entered the commercial vehicle market. Primary production started with the help of Daimler-Benz AG, and this partnership stayed on till 1969.
In 1991, TATA officially started producing passenger cars, it's the first model, Sierra became an instant sensation. In 1998, the company came out with Indica. This was India's first home-grown vehicle. The car's fuel economy and mechanical dependability helped it dominate India's hatchback segment for more than a decade.
Other TATA Cars like Safari, Sumo and Indigo, came out in quick succession after the Indica. Each of these vehicles notched up huge sales numbers. All these successful market outings boosted TATA Motor's revenues, and by 2008, this Indian Automotive giant was an international force.
In fact, during this period TATA bought England's Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford. The acquisition expanded the company's operations exponentially, setting up research and development centres in England and India. TATA currently ranks at 226th in Fortune's top 500 companies.
In the ensuing years, the company acquired Italian design firm, Trilix for 1.85 Million Euros. This is a step which helped the Indian giants introduce new design elements in their passenger vehicle line up. It launched a slew of new vehicles under Trilix's design team like TATA Bolt, Zest and a new Indica.
A Pan-Global Market Reach:
The TATA phenomenon is a global affair. This Indian company is slowly expanding horizons to western markets like Europe. In India, the company's production plants are presently in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
TATA Cars are widely available at thousands of showrooms nationwide. There are numerous dealerships in every Indian State. In large metro cities like Bhopal and Ranchi, there are multiple dealerships which cater to a wide swath of customers.
This constant improvement cycle continues today as TATA expands production to other Asian countries like Thailand, etc.
International Global Acclamation:
TATA's marketing campaign includes names like superstar footballer Lionel Messi as their global brand ambassador for the passenger vehicle department. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is the company's commercial segment's ambassador. Apart from having star ambassadors, TATA's goodwill and corporate social responsibility make it one of the most respected brands in the world. All these small factors also instil confidence amongst buyers.
After Sale Services:
TATA is famous for their straightforward approach and transparent business policy. They provide their existing customers with excellent servicing and car repair services. This is why TATA cars are such a mainstay in the country's vehicle roster.
