Panasonic came into existence in 1918, and since then they have been striving to make improvements in the electronics industry with a range of consumer products. Following its roots in Japanese consumer market
Panasonic started its journey with its founder Konosuke Matsushita in 1918. From bicycle lamps to electric irons and motors, the company gained significance only after the war. Under National brand, they manufactured radio appliances, and soon they traveled to the US for expanding their business overseas.
Apart from the US, the company sold TVs, VCRs, and shortwave radio-wave direction finders in North America under various brand names. Very soon Panasonic started producing high-performance record players and stereo receivers later.
Matsushita Corporation produced their first air conditioning systems, and very soon Panasonic Air conditioners became an immediate hit. Owing to the humid climate in Japan, this air-conditioning system gained importance.

Panasonic generated 53% of its revenues in Japan and 25% in the rest of Asia. With their increasing presence in Europe and Americas, Panasonic expanded its business far and wide. Soon they diversified their business fields into various areas like eco solutions and communication systems, etc.

Panasonic led special stress on lessening environment impacts and making them energy efficient. After their success in the local Japanese market, Panasonic installed air stream robots and motion sensors.
Soon their production figures exceeded 200 million units. Panasonic received an award for making appliances which preserve energy at the "Energy Conservation Grand Prize Awards." Their stores in UK and India paved the way for further volume production.
