Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will be available in four hues
Xiaomi's latest iterations of its Redmi smartphone lineup, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, are said to arrive on December 7. Prior the official unveiling, the tech firm's spokesperson reveals that the devices will be available in four colors: Black, Blue, Pink, and Gold.
Xiaomi's upcoming Redmi phones, the standard Redmi 5 and its larger sibling called the Redmi 5 Plus, have been the center of the rumor mills lately, which is no doubt, because we are nearing the launch of the devices on December 7. The latest information we have so far regarding the yet-to-be-announced handsets is the color options that they will be offering. Donovan Sung, the spokesperson of Xiaomi, took it to Twitter to reveal that the Redmi 5 will be available in Black, Blue, and Pink while the Redmi 5 with the Plus moniker will offer two color variants, namely Black and Gold. The regular Redmi 5 will sport a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. Under the hood, it has a Snapdragon 450 chipset coupled with any of the three storage combinations: 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage, 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage, and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. It might have a 12-megapixel rear snapper and a front-facing camera of 5 megapixels. It is said to run on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top and pack a 3200 mAh battery on board.
Redmi 5 Plus
The Redmi 5 Plus is expected to feature a larger 5.99-inch screen with a 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. Powering the device will be a Snapdragon 625 processor. There will be two memory configurations: 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64GB storage. On the camera department, it will arrive with the same 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors on the back and the front, respectively. As for the platform, the Plus handset will run on Android 7.1 Nougat topped with MIUI 9. The lights are kept running by a hefty 4000 mAh battery.
Pricing and Availability
Going by the promotional ad of Xiaomi, we can notice the tagline "A phone for a thousand." It might indicate the price range of the two Redmi phones, previously rumored to cost under CNY 1,000 (around INR 9,700). As per the reports, the pricing for the Redmi 5 starts at CNY 699 (around INR 6,800) whereas its highest-end model with 4 GB/64 GB storage carries a price tag of CNY 999 (around INR 9,700). The Redmi 5 Plus might set you back at CNY 1,299 (around INR 12,600). We advise you to take this information with a pinch of salt considering that it is still not yet confirmed by the company. Let's just wait for the official announcement which will happen two days from now.
