Press renders of Xiaomi Redmi 5 appears, will launch on December 7
One of Xiaomi's upcoming Redmi series smartphone, the standard Redmi 5, leaks in press renders from a Chinese telecom network, showing off the phone's design. The Redmi 5 is said to arrive on December 10 featuring a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
Unless you have been living under a rock for quite some time now, you would know that Xiaomi is working on the next-gen Redmi series smartphones composed of the Redmi 5, and the Redmi 5 Plus. They have been the stars of the rumor mill lately, especially now that we are nearing their launching in early December.
Recently, a teaser image, presumably for the Redmi 5 Plus was spotted, which showed that the device will sport an edge-to-edge display. Now, we came across yet a set of alleged press renders of the standard Redmi 5 leaked by a Chinese telecom network, showing the handset at all possible angles.
On the display front, the Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch screen with an HD+ resolution which is likely 720 x 1440 pixels. The images reveal a slim device with a metal unibody and a tall 18:9 display with on-screen buttons. The back panel houses the single camera module with LED flash and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The power button and volume rockers are on the right part whereas the SIM card tray is on the flip side. On the top part, there's a 3.5 mm headphone jack and an IR Blaster, while the microUSB port and the speaker grilles are on the bottom edge.
Going to the internals, the Redmi 5 is expected to offer a Snapdragon 625 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage. On the camera department, a 12-megapixel rear snapper with dual LED flash, while a 5-megapixel selfie shooter rest up front. The Redmi 5 is said to run Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box, while a 3300 mAh battery is fitted at the back to keeps the lights on.
According to leaks, the Redmi 5 will set you back at CNY 1,399 (around Rs 13,600) and arrive on December 7.
