Specs sheet of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) surfaces
Intensifying leaks and rumors indicate that Samsung is about to drop its latest smartphone offering under the Galaxy J5 lineup, dubbed as the Galaxy J5 Prime (2017). The newest leak we have so far is the full specs sheet for the upcoming device.
Last week, we came across the report that an upcoming Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-G571F, believed to be the Galaxy J5 Prime (2017), already received its necessary certification from the US Federal Communications Commission, hinting its imminent launch. Sadly, we did not get a lot of information about the phone in the listing specs-wise, except for the detail that it will offer connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and GPS. It is worth mentioning, though, that a previous GFXBench documentation of the phone revealed some of its key specs. Adding more clarity to what we already know, there's a leaked specs sheet of the yet-to-be-announced device which recently surfaced out into the wild.
Going by the leaked specs sheet, the alleged Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) sports a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It has the company's in-house Exynos 7570 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and coupled with a Mali-T720 MP2 GPU under the hood. It packs 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage which comes with support for an expandable memory of up to 128 GB via microSD card. As for the platform, the budget-friendly smartphone runs on the year-old Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box instead of the latest Android 8.0 Oreo.
On the camera department, the 2017 iteration of the Galaxy J5 Prime features a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a front-facing shooter of 8 megapixels. There's a physical home button on the front fascia which doubles a fingerprint scanner. Sensors on board include an accelerometer and proximity sensor. The handset measures 142.7 x 69.6 x 8.1 mm and packs a 2500 mAh battery claimed to last for two days on a single charge. Pricing information is not yet known. Also, we still don't know when the exact date of its release is, but we are guessing that it will land before this year ends, if not early next year.
