Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) leaks in renders, Infinity Display confirmed
Adding credence to the previous rumors, the renders of the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) have leaked online that suggests the Galaxy A8 (2018) series will feature Infinity Display in the line of premium flagships such as the Galaxy S8 series and Note8. In the images, it is also confirmed that it will sport a Bixby button on the right edge of the handset. However, the Galaxy A3 (2018) won't have either of these features.
UPDATE: The images were not a leak, but a fan-made render.
Samsung is known for bringing some of the premium features of its flagship models to its mid-range devices. So to that effect, from the past many weeks, it was heavily rumored that upcoming Galaxy A (2018) series will come with the Infinity Display, a hallmark of the Galaxy S8 series and Note8 flagships.
Barely a couple of days ago case designs of Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) cropped up online and now fresh renders of both the phones have leaked out once again suggesting that Samsung's much-admired Infinity Display will indeed be extended to these handsets. The leaked images, however, don't mention these handsets separately.
From the look of these renders, what prominently meets the eyes is the Infinity Display which is presumably with the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio as is found in the Galaxy S8 series and Galaxy Note8. Keeping in mind the mid-range status of Galaxy A phones they will still feature a display with full HD 1080p resolution than the QHD+ resolution offered with the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and Note8. Going by the images, the Infinity Display completely transforms the look of the devices to a sleeker and more premium one.
While the Infinity Display gets a go ahead, the dual camera setup, another current trend for various smartphones has to wait this time. The back side of both the phones shows a single camera module with flashlight adjacent to it.
The weird fingerprint scanner in the Galaxy S8 series and Note8 has been slightly improved as it is now smaller in size and lies just below the camera lens. The right side of the device reveals a physical Bixby button for Samsung's digital assistant. Above the Bixby button is placed the volume rocker. The power button, on the other hand, is spotted on the left side. In the previous leak of case designs, the bottom was shown having 3.5mm audio jack and USB charging port.
As we are talking about Galaxy A (2018) series, we must not forget that the lineup also includes the Galaxy A3, a lesser spec'd device compared to the Galaxy A5 and A7. Though not confirmed, the Galaxy A3 (2018) may not be fortunate enough to get the new features like the Infinity Display and Bixby button. Its diminutive size also goes against the idea of employing an Infinity Display.
Based on the earlier leaks, the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM. As for the rest of the specs, the rumor mill isn't unanimous as yet. Considering that Galaxy A (2017) series smartphones were launched in January this year their 2018 versions might still be a couple of months away and that is good enough time for various leaks and rumors to swirl around. In any case, we will keep a tab on everything that comes up in this regard. Keep in touch with us.
