Nokia 6 4GB RAM variant launches in India for INR16,999
To match up with the competition level, HMD Global has introduced a new variant of the Nokia 6 in India. The new variant now packs 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage compared to 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage found in the original Nokia 6. Other specs remain identical. The Nokia 6 4GB RAM model will go on sale from February 20, exclusively on Flipkart.
HMD Global is set to unveil an array of handsets including the Nokia 6 (2018) at the upcoming MWC 2018, but in India, the Finnish company has just unveiled a new variant of the original Nokia 6 with a bumped up memory configuration. The company has introduced a 4GB RAM variant of the Nokia 6 which until now came with 3GB RAM in the country. It is pertinent to note that in China, the Nokia 6 has been available with 4GB RAM since the beginning.
With the upgrade in RAM, the storage has also been doubled to 64GB compared to 32GB internal storage of the original model. The new variant will go on sale beginning February 20 exclusively on Flipkart instead of Amazon India, which sells the previous model of the Nokia 6.
The increase in RAM and default storage has led to the increase in the price of the device which is now set for INR16,999. Flipkart will offer an extra INR2,000 discount on an exchange program. For a perspective, the original Nokia 6 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is currently available at INR14,999.
Besides ratcheting up the RAM and storage, the new variant keeps all the specs from the original Nokia 6 intact. So if we talk about the specs of the new Nokia 6 it features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1920x1080 resolution. Pumping power from under the hood is 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC which is now mated to 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
With regard to the optics, the handset mounts a 16MP rear camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and f/2.0 aperture while on the front it tacks on an 8MP selfie camera with 84-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.0 aperture. A 3,000mAh battery keeps it juiced while Android 7.1.1 Nougat takes care of the software side of things. Among other things, the handset boasts of an aluminum body design and dual speakers with Dolby Atmos audio.
Considering the price, the Nokia 6 4GB will square off with the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro which rather comes with better specs such as 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 636 SoC, and a dual-rear-camera setup. So, the latter has a clear edge here, but we must not forget that the brand cachet of Nokia has its own value especially in the Indian market.
