Without any fanfare, Micromax has added another handset to its portfolio. The new smartphone, dubbed the Micromax Selfie 2 has been listed on its official website. The smartphone addresses the mid-range segment and is priced at Rs. 9,999. It is available for sale via offline channels beginning August 1.
The Micromax Selfie 2 lives up to what its name suggests. The device tacks on an 8MP front camera for selfie buffs. The front-facing camera is equipped with a wide-angle Sony IM135 sensor, LED flash, f/2.0 aperture. The selfie snapper is capable of clicking images with bokeh effect and laced with all the modern day selfie enhancement tricks. On the rear, it mounts a 13MP camera with LED flash, OV8856 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and the same bokeh effect capability.
Under the hood, the Micromax Selfie 2 is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC clocked at 1.35GHz. The chipset works in concert with 3GB RAM and 32GB default storage with expandability support via microSD card.
As for the firmware, the device boots Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The latest OS ensures that the handset will support multi window functionality, a direct reply from the notification panel without having to open the device. It also supports the doze mode to conserve power.
The handset draws fuel from a 3,000mAh battery which will be sufficient to last up to a day of usage on a single charge. The details about the display size, resolution as well as the connectivity options are still not out.
Talking about the physicality, the Selfie 2 wears a metal body design. The fingerprint sensor finds a place at the back below the camera arrangement. As usual, the volume rocker and power button lie at the right edge of the device. The antenna bands run across the top and the bottom portion.
The device comes with one-year warranty period along with 100 days replacement guarantee scheme. The scheme promises to replace the faulty Selfie 2 with a similar or a different unit of equivalent price within 100 days.
It is important to note that the Micromax Selfie 2 is not to be confused with the Micromax Canvas Selfie 2 launched in 2015. The latter comes with 5-inch FWVGA display, 5MP rear and front camera, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, MediaTek MT6582 SoC and 2,000mAh battery.
