Samsung Electronics of South Korea is the manufacturer of the Galaxy Tab series. Generally, these tablets are aimed at the mid-range budget segment of the tablet markets worldwide.

History of the Samsung Galaxy Tab series

The first Galaxy Tab to be released was the Tab 7.0. This happened in September 2010. At that time, it was among the first of Android tablet releases and also ran on the Froyo version of Android.

Later, many more iteration followed over the years, as Samsung truly began to compete well with other market players in the Android industry.

These Galaxy tablets are ideally designed for browsing the internet, reading books, playing games and watching videos, especially when on the move. Actually, you can do almost anything that a laptop does. You can choose your tablet from various screen sizes ranging from 7 inches right up to 12.2 inches with crystal clear TFT LCD/Super AMOLED displays. Moreover, there’s Gorilla Glass protection as well.

Features of Samsung Galaxy Tab series

The Samsung Galaxy tablets are based on various Android OS’s, such as Froyo, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Gingerbread, Jelly Bean, KitKat and Lollipop. They are powered by a dual-core, quad-core, or an octa-core processor and come with 512MB to 3GB of RAM. Internal storage also varies between models, though 32 and 64 GB versions are the most common ones these days.

The Galaxy tablet models are available with front and back cameras. The primary camera is upwards of 3.2MP while the minimum secondary camera is a 0.3MP. The rear cameras support lots of functions, including face detection and smile detection.

There are innovative features such as Fingerprint Scanner with the later models. This provides security from outside access. With the Multi Window facility you can open two apps alongside each other. You can easily share content with Samsung SideSync. On the S Pen, you have more complete mouse-like functions than earlier. For children, the Kids Mode provides a safe and fun place. Moreover, from the Google Play Store, you have access to hordes of apps.

Many of the models provide calling facility and you can make voice calls, just like a phone. You can connect the tablets through Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G (specific models), Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB port.

As for the battery, you get up to 9 hours of battery life on average use.
