About Bajaj Motorcycle

Bajaj motorcycle developed its roots into the Indian two-wheeler and three-wheeler segment back in 40's. Although they started with importing Vespa scooters, gradually they started producing their own vehicles under the Bajaj logo. Within 20 years, they produced and sold more than 100,000 units of their scooters. This ignited their willingness to expand and innovate.

Trust and constant thrive for innovation drives Bajaj Motorcycle Company

Under the able leadership of Jamnalal Bajaj, the company came into existence as a two-wheeler vehicle manufacturing company in 1945. Now Bajaj Motorcycle is the 3rd largest two and three-wheeler manufacturing company in India. Their flagship models Pulsar and Discover are common objects of interest in an Indian family. Known for their power and reliability, Bajaj Auto also gained significance with their 3 wheeler vehicle segment.

The emergence of Indian two-wheeler giant:

Under the able hands of Jamnalal Bajaj, Bajaj Auto was known as Bachraj Trading Corporation. Till 1959, Bajaj imported two and three-wheeler vehicles into the Indian market. Later they acquired a license for manufacturing their motorbikes in India.

Thus came into existence their Scooters and mopeds. By 1977, the company was selling more than 1 lakh vehicles all over India. Slowly they opened their new plant in Aurangabad and production figures rose to more than 5 lakh vehicles in a year.

Bajaj Motorcycle competes with its rivals like Hero Honda in the sub 150cc two-wheeler vehicle segments. With their Vespa and Chetak models, Bajaj scooter became the order of the day. Currently, they have diverted their attention to sub 250cc bike models like Pulsar and Avenger.

National and International reach:

Found during the post-independence period, Bajaj gained significance as a major two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicle segment in India. Gradually they transformed their business aboard and very soon, they rose to significance in Middle Eastern and South East Asian nations.

Bajaj sells more than half of its production units abroad. More than a million motorcycles were sold in Latin American and African countries. This includes two-wheelers like Platina, Pulsar, Avenger and Dominar 400 models along with three-wheelers like Optima and Maxima.

Bajaj Motorcycle holds a stake in Tempo and KTM, respectively. With this, they gain a chunk of customers in this segment.

Recognition in India and abroad:

In terms of popularity and credibility, Bajaj stands out from the rest. It received the Bike of the Year 2010 Award along with recognition from Overdrive and Top Gear. In terms of customer satisfaction and scalability, Bajaj received became the Most Customer Responsive Company in this automobiles sector.

Bajaj sells more than 10 million motorcycles in a year in India and more than one million abroad. After their demerger from Kawasaki, the manufacturer chose to make its own fuel efficient bikes and quadricycle. From a turnover of 72 million in the 60's, Bajaj Auto makes over 120 million in current Indian currency.

Future prospects:

Current CEO of Bajaj Auto, Rahul Bajaj spends the highest of over 6.5 million Indian rupees for employee benefits. It is a pleasant work culture with no biased ness towards gender or other factors.

All this has made Bajaj Motorcycle the "World's Choice Best Two-Wheeler Company" consecutively for three years. Its investment in KTM has proved to be beneficial with its Duke and KTM 200 models.
