About Suzuki Motorcycle

Suzuki has got a bike for everyone, whether it's a sports enthusiast or a regular commuter. For more than 60 years, Suzuki motorcycle has been known for their strength and fuel efficiency. Four-stroke four cylinder 500cc bikes became the order of the day, and this helped the company reach new heights particularly for their revolutionary styling.

Suzuki motorcycle reigning the Indian sub 500cc motorcycle market

Ever since its commencement in 1952, Suzuki is all about speed, styling and riding comfort. While the present model Hayabusa captivates its riders with advanced combustion efficiency and better throttle response, cruiser bikes like Boulevard M109R and Gladius provide an impetus for high-performance off-roading. Suzuki motorcycle started their journey with two-stroke engines. Presently they make 4 cylinder 4 stroke engines built for tracks and city roads as well.

The beginning of vehicle manufacturing journey:

In 1937, Michio Suzuki, the founder began his journey with the production of small cars. Making over 10 HP, the Suzuki cars ran on 4 cylinder engines. During the world war, automobile industry slowed down. However, Japanese's need for automobiles made Suzuki bring into production a two-wheeler bicycle with 36cc two-stroke engine.

This marked the beginning of Suzuki motorcycle industry, and very soon the company was making more than 6000 motorcycles per month. With time, Suzuki's bikes made more power and soon stormed the market. Although Volkswagen bought some of Suzuki's stocks, it had to sell it back.

Global presence outside Japan:

Originally Suzuki's market was restricted strictly to Japanese areas and a couple of nearby countries. With time, their two-stroke engine bikes gathered enough reputation to cross Asian borders.

Their journey in racing tracks started in the 1960's Grand Prix. With this, they expanded, and a subsidiary company opened with Suzuki in LA. With T20, Suzuki emerged as the fastest 250cc bike. Gradually Suzuki 360cc and 500cc bikes enthralled both potential racing and commuting customers.

Indonesia was next in line whereby Suzuki motorcycle collaborated with Italian motor works to make powerful 500cc bikes.

How Suzuki identified itself:

Maruti Udyog Ltd which was directly under the government of India's undertaking collaborated with Suzuki motors for jointly producing small vehicles. Hence came into existence Maruti Suzuki's first vehicle, 800.

By 1983, Suzuki made their manufacturing plant in New Delhi, India. Suzuki vehicles are strong, powerful and above all, reliable which includes lower maintenance costs. Suzuki bikes came to India in the early 2000s. Apart from bigger models like Hayabusa and GSX, it sells numerous smaller bikes (125-300cc range) in India.

Suzuki Indian scene:

By 2012, they successfully sold more than 10 million vehicles in India. Maruti Suzuki produces more than 10 varieties of vehicles in their Gurgaon plant. Their other manufacturing plants in Manesar and Gujarat plan to sell more than 1,250,000 vehicles annually.

Suzuki emerged as one of the most popular vehicle manufacturers in India. By 1994, Suzuki sold more than 1 million vehicles in India. Suzuki motorcycle also sells scooters and ATVs in this subcontinent.
