About LML Motorcycle

Summary

LML motorcycle, synonymous with affordability and innovation, is an Indian motorcycle manufacturer. Not only are their bikes affordable but also emphasised on great all-round biking experience. In fact, their ergonomic style and features complement the riding needs of enthusiasts.

LML Motorcycle Recommends the Most Affordable Way to Own a Bike

LML Motorcycle is one of the most affordable options available to Indian bikers. Striking the right balance of optimum build quality and value for money, these bikes cater to the cash-strapped consumer base.

However, don't mistake their affordability for lack of quality. LML holds the distinction of getting recognition from the Indian Ministry of Science and Technology for coming out with fuel efficient engines in the two-wheeler market.

History of how LML came to be

Registered as Lohia Machines Private Limited in 1972, the company focussed on manufacturing of synthetic yarn making machines.

1984 was a landmark year in the company's history when it first signed an agreement with Piaggio to manufacture scooters. Their business was limited to the Indian subcontinent only. Their first few scooters like the LML Select and Star met with considerable success owing to innovative design aesthetics.

It was in 1999 when the company signed a deal with Daelim Motor Company of South Korea to instigate their motorcycle manufacturing diaries. In only a years' time the Government of India recognised the company's efforts to bringing innovative solutions for saving fuel. This year saw the debut of their first motorcycle using a 3-valve technology and 100cc engine.

In 2004, with the introduction of LML Graptor into the market, the company produced its most popular motorcycle. Its 150cc engine catered to the lifestyle segment of urban consumers. However, due to certain financial constraints, the company wasn't able to put up as many new models as they would've liked.

Dealership Networks

Spearheaded by Deepak Singhania, the Chairman and Managing Director, LML projected a wide market presence. Their dealerships were spread across the length and breadth of the Indian subcontinent both in the Tier-A as well as the Tier-B cities.

LML also made sure of having sufficient service centres to make sure that wasn't a detriment for consumers. The backing from their partner company (Daelim) also helped LML motorcycle gain prominence.

Popularity and Brand of LML

While LML was a newbie brand in the vehicular segment, it benefitted from associations first with Piaggio and later Daelim. Both of these companies are popular brands around the World and their brand value was a great boost to LML in their initial days.

Nevertheless, the major reason of popularity was the affordability of LML motorcycle. People, therefore, embraced LML as a brand even in the rural areas of the country.

Present and Future Prospects

Presently, LML has put a halt on their manufacture of motorcycles in India. However, it continues to produce scooters. Those interested in buying an LML motorcycle can still avail them from reputed second hand dealers.
