Design of the iPhone
The first five generations of touchscreen iPhones featured 3.5 inch LCD screens with anti-scratch glass, whereas it was 4 inches on the iPhone 5. For multi-touch sensing, the capacitive touchscreens are designed for multiple finger usage. The displays on the initial 3 generations have a 320x480 (HVGA) resolution at 163 ppi while that on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S have a 640x960 resolution at 326 ppi. The same stands at 640x1136 with 326 ppi on the iPhone 5. The Apple iPhone 6 offers a 4.7 inch IPS Retina HD screen exhibiting a 1,334x750 px resolution at 326 ppi. The iPhone 6 Plus features a 5.5 inch full HD display.
With a full array of colour availability, it displays perfect colours. The existence of an ion-reinforced glass top, shields the phone from scratches and bruises. Viewing angles are also improved through the dual domain polariser system.
Features of the iPhone
iPhone has eight generations of models in total. Each of them has come with one major iOS upgrade of the 8 releases. The first generation was originally a GSM phone. Well recognized as the design precedents, it has a key placement that has been tested throughout every release. The size of the touchscreen has been maintained with four subsequent generations. GPS application and 3G mobile network capabilities started being added into iPhone 3G. A faster processor and a higher resolution camera which are new applications to record a video at 480p, additionally available in iPhone 3GS.
iPhone 4 features a higher 960x640 resolution Retina Display, a VGA camera on the front to use video calling, and a 5MP camera with 720p on the rear to record videos and take pictures. The iPhone 4S is slightly better in camera with 8MP and 1080p video recording, Siri a native language voice management system and a dual-core A5 chip.
iPhone 5 is equipped with a dual-core A6 processor, increased with four inches in the Retina Display size, supported by LTE and connected with a digital Lightning connector to substitute the 30 pin connector. The iPhone 5S is upgraded with the 64 bit dual-core A7 chip, a modernized camera with a bigger aperture, Touch ID fingerprint scanner and dual LED flash that is incorporated into the home button. The iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C feature the A6 processor, besides an original rear lit-up Face Time camera and a polycarbonate casing.
Besides increasing the screen size to 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches respectively, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus upgrade both the latest A8 processor and M8 motion coprocessor.
All iPhone models come in several variants as per storage, i.e. 8/16/32/64/128 GB, and the element of the batteries from 1150mAh to 2915mAh, depending on the models.
