About BlackBerry Torch
The BlackBerry Torch series are developed by BlackBerry Ltd, a Canadian mobile phone manufacturer.
The BlackBerry Torch series are touchscreen smartphones that also possess a physical keyboard, later variants were full touchscreen smartphones that features a screen keyboard software. The BlackBerry Torch can also be called as a BlackBerry for the Android and iPhone generation users.
History of the BlackBerry Torch series
Rumours about the BlackBerry Torch started in April 2010 during the CEO of RIM’s significant lecture at WES 2010, in the beginning of summer in 2010 during the introduction of the BlackBerry OS 6 the prototype pictures of a BlackBerry device with a sliding QWERTY keyboard and a touch screen started was presented. The device was named the 9800 Slider and Bold 9800 but then officially named as the “Torch” at RIM’s announcement in August that year.

Generally, the Blackberry Torch 9800, Torch 9860, Torch 9810, Torch 9850 and Torch 2 (permanently discontinued model) are popular BlackBerry mobiles that forayed into the Indian markets.

Design of the BlackBerry Torch series
Mainly similar to touchscreen smartphones at present, the BlackBerry Torch series are completely about display. Five tangible function buttons i.e. Menu, Escape, Power and Send are organized all along the lower edge of the screen.
Among the four keys is an exceptional optical track pad on the front of the Torch. Although rather small, it is highly receptive and functions efficiently while browsing the Internet. It’s considered easier to use than BlackBerry’s former trackball design. The default sensitivity is outstanding as well.

Features of the BlackBerry Torch series
Two operating systems were built for the series. The Torch 9800 running on BlackBerry OS 6 while a BlackBerry OS 7.1 for the BlackBerry Torch 9810, 9850 and 9860.
The phone features a screen sizes of 3.2/3.7 inches LCD display with a 360x480/800x480 pixel resolutions providing a pixel density of 188/253 ppi. The display in this series of phones is very colourful and sharp and also complements the pulsating BlackBerry OS 7. In addition, the display possesses features such as the proximity sensor and accelerometer sensor.
The BlackBerry Torch series are powered by 624MHz (9800)/1.2GHz Snapdragon processors and are coupled with 512MB/786MB of RAM. The phones have 4GB/8GB of internal memory with an external memory slot that is expandable up to 32GB using a micro-SD card.
The phones features a 5MP autofocus back camera with built-in LED flash. This camera is also able to perform HD video recording at 720p. Other features of the Torch are Image stabilization, face detection and Geo-Tagging.
The Torch series offer connectivity options and supports Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS, microUSB 2.0 and NFC. These phones are either powered by 1230mAH, 1270mAH or 1300mAH Li-ion batteries and can provide from 5.6 hours up to 6.8 hours of talk time.
They also offer loads of games and applications, which can be downloaded from BlackBerry World. With the BlackBerry Messenger on these smartphones, you are capable of staying connected at work while on the move and with your friends as well.
BlackBerry, through a post on its official blog, has recently announced that all BlackBerry 10 phones together with Blend 1.2 will receive the BlackBerry OS 10.3.2 update. This update will provide enhanced action bars by accessing regularly used functions, battery enhancing technology, voice stimulated BlackBerry Assistant, improvised BlackBerry Hub, updated icons and more.
