Xiaomi Inc. develops the Redmi smartphone that is primarily a budget series offering. Xiami is a private Chinese establishment that designs, manufactures and markets Android supported electronics devices.
History of Xiaomi Redmi series
The Redmi brand manufactured by Xiaomi was primarily publicized in July 2013. These Redmi devices are based on the Android operating system. Earlier these handsets were known as HongMi. The models, at present, consist of the Redmi and the Redmi Note variants. These Redmi handsets are sold in China which includes Hong Kong, Taiwan and most recently in India. These smartphones are consumer-based offerings or much known as budget phones.

For the last couple of years, Xiaomi has been a revelation in the Indian smartphone market. With a lot of Chinese OEM’s having setup manufacturing units in the country, the Indian smartphone industry is booming with latest offerings at unbelievable prices.
In a very limited time period, Xiaomi has earned a fortune in the Indian smartphone market. It is a name to be reckoned with in its present stature. Moreover, no other Chinese brand sells its smartphones like hot cakes in India as Xiaomi does. The Redmi Note, the Redmi 1 and 2 are the most popular Xiaomi devices in India. The company has also set to launch the Redmi 2 Prime, which has been assembled in Xiaomi’s recent facility in India.
Design of Xiaomi Redmi series
The Redmi series of phones are your normal sized smartphones that fit snugly in your hand. The Redmi series come with a typical 4.7 inch IPS LCD multi touch display. The Redmi Note, on the other hand, is a phablet with a 5.5 inch screen. In addition, its HD display offers a sharp and delicate viewing experience from all angles. The display screens are also Corning Gorilla Glass protected. This facilitates easy resistance to scratches. Redmi phones usually come in metallic grey and white colour options.
Features of Xiaomi Redmi series
The Xiaomi Redmi series of phones are powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processors with a minimum 1GB of RAM and Adreno GPU. This ensures the phones can handle most high-end games you play on these devices. Moreover, when a lot of apps are opened simultaneously, there are no indications of sluggishness or lag. The phones come with an 8/16GB internal memory that can be extended to 32/64GB via a microSD card.
These devices run mainly on Jelly Bean, KitKat and Lollipop, which are the most popular Android operating systems at the moment. The MIUI, Xiaomi’s own user interface atop on Android runs these devices. In some way, it looks similar to Apple’s iOS.
These handsets are also available with a Maximum 13MP autofocus OmniVision back camera with features such as smile detection, LED flash, touch to focus, geo-tagging, face detection, f/2.2 aperture, HDR and 28mm large angle lens. they also come with a front facing camera for enjoying video calls and capturing selfies.
