About Motorola Moto

Motorola Mobile Phones

The name Motorola has long been identifies with the mobile phone industry. They were, perhaps even among the earliest inventors of the mobile phone. The company has a very rich history in this segment and now produces mobile phones only. Presently, Motorola Mobility is owned by Chinese tech giants Lenovo Group Ltd., although its headquarters lie in Chicago, USA.

History of Motorola Mobile Phones

Motorola designed the first ever handheld telephone that was also portable in nature. This happened in the year 1973. The company manufactured various feature phones much throughout the 1990s and even developed the RAZR, SLVR and PEBL series throughout the early and mid 2000s. However, its mobile division was sold to Google in 2011 following very heavy losses, and then again to Lenovo in 2014.

Throughout Motorola’s history, the company has gone on to manufacture some of the most innovative and popular devices. At present, the company manufactures smartphones and its popular range includes Moto G, Moto E, Moto X, Droid and even Nexus 6.

Popularity in India

Motorola had a very strong presence in the country in earlier days, when Nokia happened to be the topmost handset seller. Many of Motorola’s phones, especially the RAZR series was very popular among buyers and sold very well in India. However, the company lost much of its sheen after the prominence of other players such as Apple and Samsung. In fact, Motorola was almost absent from the Indian market for a couple of years or so.

It then looked for fresh start with a reentry into the market with the launch of the Moto G in early 2013. This was followed by the Moto X lineup. The following year, the Moto E smartphone was launched and these lineups have existed since then. The three Moto lineups serve three different market segments. The E is meant for the lower end, the G for the mid-level and the X had a further three models that serve the upper midrange market. These phones have had a tremendous response from Indian buyers, especially the youth.

Design of Motorola Mobile Phones

Motorola has always produced standout designs for almost all of its phones. Even the RAZR and PEBL series featured some mind blowing designs back then. With its latest Moto devices, the construction is mostly polycarbonate. The back is curved and offers a matte finish for better grip and usage. The stylized Motorola branding is also present.

The screen size varies roughly between 4.3 inches and 5.7 inches and features an AMOLED/IPS LCD screen. Most phones also have HD/FHJD resolutions for amazing viewing purposes. Additionally, Corning Gorilla Glass is also provided.

Phones are largely available in two major colors, i.e. black and white. However, one can purchase a number of unique back covers offering a host of colors and shades.

Features of Motorola Mobiles

Motorola’s phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets that offer great computing standards. They are packed with up to 3GB of RAM for smooth functioning. Storage options are available in the form of 8/16/32GB and most support micro-SD cards.

Motorola uses Google stock Android OS, with little tweaks and improvements. In fact, this allows for an amazing pure Android experience.

Cameras on the phones vary in megapixel count, but offer a number of useful features. They are also fairly good for casual clicks and shoots.

A host of connectivity options are available with Moto phones. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro USB, NFC and GPS are the common options. Cellular connectivity is provided with dual SIM and some models also support 4G LTE bands.

Motorola phones offer good battery life for regular usage.

Motorola Mobile News

Motorola has just launched the Moto G Turbo edition in the Indian market. It is better version than the Moto G 3, which was launched earlier this year.
