About Lava Iris

Lava Iris

Lava International Ltd. founded in 2009 is based in Noida, New Delhi. Lava Iris is one of the company’s product, it is an Indian mobile phone proudly produced by Lava International Ltd.

Lava International is well known for their production of smartphones, IT accessories and tablets.

History of Lava

Lava International became a partner of the worlds famous microchip manufacturer, Intel in 2012. Together, they launched the first Intel powered smartphone, going by the brand name XOLO. The same year, with its E-Tab Z7H, Lava also stepped into the tablet market.

The company’s flagship handset in the Iris series is the Iris Pro 30 smartphone. It is the primary mobile handset in the Iris Pro series of phones. In India, the Lava Iris X1 was one amongst the very first smartphones running on Android KitKat OS. The Iris Win1, which is the company’s primary Windows smartphone, was launched in December 2014.

The latest release in the Iris series is the Lava Iris X1 Atom S launched in June 2015.

Popularity in India

Being one of the key players in the Indian smartphone manufacturing industry, Lava strives to provide feature-rich handsets at reasonable prices. They deliver consumers a blend of unmatched functionality with exquisite designs. Most phones in the series are made to cater to the budget conscious Indian customer and Lava has fairly done well in a market crowded with Chinese and other Indian players.

Some of the most popular phones in the Iris series are the Iris X1 Atom S, Iris Fuel 20, Iris Fuel 25, Iris Alfa L and the Lava Iris Win1.

Design of Lava Iris series

The Lava Iris series of phones are pretty well designed and slim. Screen sizes of 3.5 inches and above can be expected with IPS displays and a range of different resolutions. The display screens are usually TFT/LCD and many models feature OGS (One Glass Solution).

Due to their multi touch capacitive screen, the phones are simple to handle. They also offer natural readability during bright sunlight. In addition, the Asahi Dragontrail glass ensures the screen remains resistant to scratches.

Features of Lava Iris series

The Iris series of phones are powered by single/dual/quad/octa-core MediaTek and Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Many of the phones also have an additional GPU for enhanced graphics for gaming and videos. They earlier phones came with a minimum 512MB of RAM, but of late, phones usually come with 1GB of primary memory.

Lava Iris smartphones run on Android OS versions such as Jelly Bean, KitKat, and Lollipop. The Lava Iris Win1 runs on Windows 8.1. The smartphones in this series come with a minimum of 512MB internal memory. Latest phones offer up to 8/16GB of storage. Those looking for additional memory can take advantage of the external memory slot, expanding the memory with a micro-SD card up to 32GB.

Lava Iris series phones come with decent cameras. The phones have 5/8MP back cameras with LED flash and BSI II sensor. This improves picture quality when the lighting conditions are poor. The secondary front camera on board is usually a 0.3/2MP snapper. This guarantees video calling function and is good for people who like taking selfies, aside from that, the cameras can record videos at 720p resolutions as well.

Connectivity on the other hand, the phones support dual SIM, EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, WiFi Hotspot, Tethering, OTA sync and a USB port. The phones also support FM radio with RDS. For a better experience, the Iris handsets feature a number of sensors such as ambient light, accelerometer, gyroscope and proximity sensor.

In addition, these smartphones also come with a preloaded app, the Adaptxt keyboard app, which supports 11 local Indian languages. Some models are provided with gesture suite and feature K-Class amplifier for enhancement in music.

These phones are juiced up by a Li-ion battery that ranges between 1100mAh to a high 4400mAH.

Lava News

Lava’s entry-level handset the Iris Alfa smartphone will be getting an Android Lollipop update. The update will be released via OTA (Over the Air), Iris Alfa owners that still run on Android KitKat versions may update their OS starting from January 2015.
