About Xolo Mobile Phones
Xolo Mobile Phones
Xolo, which is a subsidiary of the Indian mobile manufacturer Lava Mobiles, is also the first to have shelled out a smartphone with an Intel processor. The company largely manufactures Android and some Windows devices as well. Xolo is certainly among India’s largest smartphone makers.
History of Xolo Mobile Phones
Xolo started off in 2012 after it was created by its parent company, Lava International. The company is primarily based out of Noida in India. Xolo launched the world’s first smartphone with an Intel Atom processor in 2013. It was called the X900. This device was also sold in several other markets in the world.
Since then, Xolo has launched several other devices that have only gotten better with every release. There have been several Windows devices as well. Some popular devices are under the Q series, Play series, Black and the Win series.
Popularity in India
Xolo shares a great rapport among Indian buyers. Although there are many bigger brands in the market, along with several local players, Xolo still finds takers for its range of smartphones. Even with its first release, there was quite the hype about an Intel powered smartphone and phone was pretty popular.
Xolo’s devices are largely meant for the mid range and low end market. They are pretty affordable and thus it's easy for Indian consumers to buy. This is mainly because India’s mobile market is still an emerging one and a lot of mid range spenders.
Design of Xolo Mobile Phone
Xolo’s devices are pretty decent in comparison to most of the other players in the smartphone market. Although not purely elegant in any way, there are still good looking. Almost all the phones have a plastic construction with a bezel around it. The back cover is removable and has the Xolo branding. The phones are fairly lightweight and can be operated without trouble.
For the screen, Xolo provides an IPS LCD display with qHD/HD resolutions. Lowered priced phones though have low resolution screens. Corning Gorilla Glass protection is available with most phones though.
Xolo phones are largely available in black or white colors, except some models that come in other bright colors as well.
Features of Xolo Mobiles
Xolo’s smartphones are equipped with the latest system-on-chips that offer powerful features. These are also known to have more cores for faster execution. MediaTek/Spreadtrum has been the most common go to option for Xolo devices. RAM differs from device to device, but most have roughly 1/2GB. Internal storage also varies between 4GB and 16GB on most devices, with a slot for expansion.
Most Xolo devices were known to the stock Android interface. However, the company has recently developed its very own UI that runs on its present set of phones. It is known as Hive UI and was released in 2014.
Cameras on Xolo smartphones are of a very good make. Rear and front cameras are provided and they offer great shots for causal photography. Some latest releases even have dual front cameras, which mean better selfies. A number of camera features, like face detection, auto focus and more, are provided to increase functionality.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are two wireless connectivity options, besides its support for cellular SIM. Phones also largely support dual SIM features and recent releases in the market support offer 4G capabilities. A number of other options like GPS, USB, headphone jack and more are available for further connectivity on the device.
The phones are mainly powered by Li-ion batteries that last up to a day on a single charge.
