Obi mobile phones set to reign the Indian smart phones market

From archives of Obi phones

The year 2014 saw the birth of a brand new company for mobile handsets named Obi Mobiles . A brainchild of John Sculley, former CEO of Apple Incorporations, Obi phones soon took command of this market. Mr. Sculley felt a shortage of well-designed yet reasonably priced mobile handsets. He along with former director of Industrial Designs, Robert Brunner fabricated these handsets of Obi Mobiles.

In 2015, these products were renamed as Obi Worldphone. In August, the firm launched its two premium handsets SF1 and SJ1.5. It is Mr. Brunner who gave the supreme design of Obi handsets. The handsets having a chaste and sleek outer body, is embosomed with technological marvels from Qualcomm, Dolby, Corning Incorporated etc.

Taking birth in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco, the company targeted emanating markets with its low priced smart phones. Obi phones run on Google's Android operating system. It works on Android Lollipop, though an older version of Android, the company forecasted an update with a recent rendering. Model SF1 comes with Android's self-developed wing named "Obi life speed".

Capturing the Indian Market

Obi Worldphone has captured a considerable part of the Asian, African and Middle Eastern arcade. With official stores at Kuwait, Vietnam, Turkey, and others, it is yet to open an official store in India. However, it is widely available in India at reasonable prices in the online stores of eBay, Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal.

In India Obi mobile phones has quite a number of service and repairing centers spread across this nation. Some of them are in Delhi, Noida, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. Their headquarters are in Gurgaon.

Path to Glory

Being a relatively new company did not stop Obi Worldphone from securing the popularity it deserves. It was targeted for youths and for those who want to take the road less traveled and not go by already set up standards.

What sets Obi phones apart from others is its unique design with its perfect curves. The most demanded set is SF1 (where SF stands for San Francisco) has 3 GB RAM and 34 GB ROM. Handset SJ1.5 and MV1 come next in popularity.

Additionally to ponder on

In the year 2015, Obi mobile phones reaped the award for fifth best smart phone in Vietnam. The journey for this three-year-old company has just begun. With promising specifications and marvelously designed body, Obi mobiles have a long way to perambulate.
