Meizu Mobile Phones

Based out of Zhuhai, Guangdong, Meizu Technology Co. Ltd. is well known Chinese electronics maker. The company was initially into manufacturing of audio player, largely mp3 and mp4. However, at present, the company’s primary focus is on smartphones that are affordable and feature rich.

History of Meizu Mobile Phones

Meizu was founded in the year 2003, and as stated earlier, it was mainly into making MP3 and MP4 players for the Chinese market. It also made several of these players that were marketed outside of China.

Meizu’s first tryst with smartphones happened in 2007, when it launched the M8. The M8 turned out to be pretty successful and in 2011, the company launched the M9 model, which was also powered by Android. The following years swathe release of the MX series of phones from Meizu, till the end of 2014, when it launched the M series of smartphones. Since then, the company has gone onto release m1 note, m2 note, MX5 and the PRO 5 models, many of which are available today.

Popularity in India

Meizu is one of the latest of Chinese smartphones manufacturers that has entered India in the last couple of years. The company debuted in the country with the launch of the m1 note smartphone in 2015. Next, in line was the MX5 model and the company has released all the following models so far.

Meizu had a very good debut in India when all of the m1 note units sold out on Amazon, on the very first day of sale. Since then, the company has been ever present in the market and has been chipping of the market shares of other smartphone makers, most notably Xiaomi and Lenovo. It is fair to say that Meizu’s devices, which are affordable and packed with modern features, are in sync with the Indian market.

Design of Meizu Mobile Phones

Meizu’s phones largely have a very good buildup. They mostly feature a mix of metal and polycarbonate that offers sturdiness and durability. They also happen to be light, despite their large size, which makes them easy to be used.

The screen size for Meizu’s devices is mostly 5 or 5.5 inches, although the latter is more common. They also come with full HD resolution and either of IPS LCD or AMOLED displays. This offers a great viewing experience on these devices.

There are also several color options for Meizu devices, with the prominent options being white, blue, pink and grey. The back cover has the Meizu branding at the bottom and is non-removable.

Features of Meizu Mobile Phones

Meizu’s mobile devices run on MediaTek or Samsung’s Exynos series of processors. Additionally, they feature 2GB or 3GB of RAM for fast paced tasking. In terms of storage too, these smartphones have ample space. Usually, they arrive in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. Removable storage options are not available on Meizu’s devices, so options are limited.

When it comes to the software running on these phones, Android is the mainstay with the company’s very own Flyme OS running atop it. Flyme has a beautiful interface and has also been ported to several other popular devices.

The camera on Meizu’s devices is also noteworthy. They arrive in large pixel count and on both the rear and the front. Other features include the presence of LED flash and in-built camera features.

Connectivity features vary between devices, but most of them remain the same. They phones support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular networks with 4G support, micro-USB, wireless charging, GPS, GLONASS, Hotspot, OTG and more. A number of sensors also accompany the device, adding several functionalities.

Battery life on these devices is also very good.
