About Google Mobile Phones

Summary

Google is among the world's largest tech giants. It entered the phone market with the Nexus series in 2010 and is now re-entering it with the all new Pixel phones. Google mobile phones tend to be high on specifications and durability and come with an assured brand value.

Google Mobile Phones Making a Comeback with the Pixel Series

What happens when one of the world's biggest and most reputed companies make cell phones? They become a smash hit and sell like hot pan cakes.

That is exactly what happened every time Google decided to launch a phone. Currently, there are 4 Google mobile phones– Google Pixel, Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel XL and Google Pixel 2 XL.

How Google got into mobile manufacturing

Google was started by Larry Page and Sergey Brin when they came up with an idea of creating a search engine. Their main aim was to organise all data on the internet into one coherent index. Initially they were working out of a garage in Silicon Valley and moved out in a few years' time. Their focus over the next few years was on ranking webpages and thereafter on setting up Gmail.

Gradually, the company began to spread its wings and entered phone manufacturing in 2010 with Nexus One. Although this phone was manufactured by HTC, it was in essence Google's first mobile phone. After success of Nexus One, more Google mobile phones hit the market. These nexus phones saw considerable success and the final ones to come out were 5X and 6P mobile phones.

Google thereafter stopped producing the Nexus series and put out the all new Pixel line of phones.

Reach of Google

For a billion dollar company like Google, the whole World is within their reach. Google is quite literally, everywhere. Any place with an internet connection uses Google as their default browser.

However, for all their reach and expanse, they never had an official store to their name until 2016 when Google's first official store opened in London. The company managed their business with a whole line of distribution networks spread across the world. In India too, every major city has plenty of Google distributors. The Google store sells all of their products from mobile phones to tablets to everything else.

The Pixel series

Their latest Pixel series is Google's attempt at re-entering the phone market in a big way. Priced at 42,000, Google Pixel is the most affordable one of the series. Pixel 2 XL is the standout phone that offers 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal memory.

Google the brand

There is hardly a tech company in the world that is more popular than Google. Such is its level of dominance of the market that it has never had to hire brand ambassadors.

Popularity of Google phones although slightly behind the popularity of Google's overall brand, is fast catching up now with the Pixel series. The main reason for the popularity of these new Google phones is the introduction of the all-new Google Assistant – a more advanced version of Google Now.

The Pixel series is ensuring that Google mobile phones scale new territories, in terms of both expansion and control of the market.
