About Apple Mobile Phones
Apple Inc., an American multinational IT company based in Cupertino, California, is very well known for its wide range of premium electronics products such as tablets, phones, laptops and more. Chief among its line of products is the iPhone, which has been one of the most popular mobile phone lines to date and since its inception.
History of Apple phones
The iPhone was first released in 2007 and was the brainchild of Steve Jobs, who was responsible for introducing some amazing gadgets, such as the iPod and the iPad as well. This was also the first generation iPhone, which was succeeded by the 3G model. Further release followed over the years, and Apple largely released an incremental model, followed by its upgrade called the s model.
The present bunch of devices consist of the iPhone 6/6 Plus and 6s/6s Plus, which was released earlier in 2015.
Popularity in India
Although the Indian smartphone market is hugely dominated by Android players, such as the likes of Samsung, Micromax, Intex, Motorola, LG and more, the iPhone pretty much stands out among them. One of the factors here is that the iPhone is of a premium make and is also a fair bit more expensive.
Statistics show that the iPhone’s popularity is soaring rapidly in India, as more customers look forward to buying these phones. In fact, Apple has also increased the supply and added several stores across the country, so that these phones are easily within the reach of a customer.
Design of Apple phones
When it comes to design, the iPhone seems to be way ahead of the rest of the bunch. It primarily features aluminum and plastic in its build, although the proportion of metal is more prominent.
On the front face is the IPS LCD touchscreen that comes in different sizes and varying resolutions, right throughout the many models that have released so far. A speaker and front camera sit on the top and a home button just below the screen. This home button also houses a fingerprint sensor since the iPhone 5s/5c. There are no capacitive buttons and operation is possible through the use of the onscreen buttons.
The rear panel usually comes in Apple’s standard colors, i.e. gold, space grey and silver, and bunch of other colors as well. The iPhone 5c model also came in numerous other colors such as yellow, green, blue and pink. The rear panel is also non-removable in nature and has the Apple logo.
Apple’s iPhones come with a rich array of features that primarily focus on offering great quality. The first three releases featured the use of Samsung chipsets, until Apple began to use their own lineup of A series processors. Additionally, these also have PowerVR GPUs to assist graphic intensive tasks. Memory ranges between models and the present releases have 2GB of RAM. Three storage options are available for the latest editions, i.e. 16, 64 and 128GB.
As for the camera, Apple is known to offer rear/front cameras known as iSight and FaceTime. Up to the iPhone 6/Plus models, camera resolutions ranged up to 8/1.2MP. However, with the 6s/Plus 6s, the camera resolution has been increased to 12/5MP. A number of other features come with the camera, such as auto-focus, face detection, auto HDR, panorama and burst mode and more.
iPhone’s run on iOS, which is Apple’s software interface for its iPod, phones and tablet releases. The present version is the iOS 9. The software, as such, offers very rich user experience and also supports plenty of applications.
Connectivity is usually available in the form of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, GPS, NFC and SIM. The very latest models are also known to have support for 4G LTE/UMTS networks. A number of sensors are also provided that assist the phone in its functioning.
