About Lenovo Essential
Lenovo Group Ltd. Is a multinational computer technology firm that is largely based in America and China. The company offers a wide range of products, ranging from laptop computers to wearable devices and mobile applications. It is also the largest computer vendor at the present moment.
History of Lenovo Laptops
Lenovo was formed in 1984 and it wasn’t until 1990 that the company started to manufacture computer devices. These were primarily branded the Legend PC. Laptops followed much later, and the first of them came in the year 1996. By 1999 however, the company had been already Asia’s top PC maker and the following year, it entered the world’s top ten.
In 2005, the company acquired IBM’s PC Division, which also made it the world’s third largest computer vendor. This also meant that the company became responsible for the development of the largely popular ThinkPad laptops. The IdeaPad laptops were then launched in 2008, and the company maintains the line till date. For lower end options, it has also introduced the Essentials lineup.
Popularity in India
Lenovo has a very large presence in India. One of the major reasons for the company’s success in India has been due to its wide array of affordable priced laptops. These start with the low-end Essentials series, follow through with the IdeaPad and then have high-end offerings in the form of the ThinkPad.
Also, Lenovo devices are known to boast of great durability and quality. Despite this, it also maintains low pricing options when compared to many other brands in the Indian PC market.
Design of Lenovo Laptops
Lenovo laptops aren’t all incredibly designed, but rather come with a very simple finish. The IdeaPad and ThinkPad are certainly the better looking laptops of the lot. These come with a better overall look.
The laptops mostly have a matte finish on the lid. They are also constructed out of polycarbonate and various alloys. The lower portion is mostly plastic. The screen on most laptops is an IPS LED that comes with HD or higher resolutions. The size also varies, but the standard is 15.6 inches. Lenovo’s AccuType keyboard is a very comfortable full size keyboard that offers a very good typing experience. One can also choose from various colored models that are available.
Features of Lenovo Laptops
Lenovo offers some of the best features in their laptops, and that at affordable prices. They are mostly powered with Intel and AMD’s range of dual core processors that offer fast computing. Most of the laptops are powered by Intel’s Core i line processors, right up to the 5th/6th generation. In addition, memory large varies between 2GB to 16GB. ThinkPads mostly have the 16GB option. Storage options are available in the form of SSDs and HDDs and sizes up to 1.5TB are available.
Almost all laptops are known to run Windows, as they come pre-installed with the OS. However, low priced devices often come with DOS or Ubuntu Linux.
All laptops feature a webcam with microphone. This allows users to make video calls over the Internet. Also, stereo speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio and a 3.5mm jack can be found.
