About HP ENVY
Hewlett-Packard, or what is more commonly known as HP, is an American IT company that develops both hardware and software products. The Envy series is a lineup of notebooks introduced by them.
History of HP Envy lineup
The HP Envy lineup made way into the markets in 2009, with two models. These were the Envy 13 and 15. Later, another two additional series were introduced in the Envy lineup, namely the Envy 14 and 17.
At the present moment, the Envy lineup has 5 series consisting of several models, namely Envy 14, 15, 17, x2 and x360. The Envy 13 series has been discontinued.
Popularity in India
HP has a tremendous market presence in India. Whether it is in terms of notebooks, desktops, printers or even several other IT accessories, HP is right among the topmost companies it competes with.
The HP Envy lineup of notebooks is pretty popular among students and professionals. The lower priced models are the more preferred options for students, while the higher end devices are better for professionals. On the whole, the HP Envy lineup does have a good market in India.
Design of HP Envy lineup
The Envy lineup of devices features a great design, especially in terms of appearance. The laptops are very slim and less bulky. They weigh roughly between 1.5 and 3 kilograms. The notebooks and Ultrabooks also come in a number of striking color options, although silver and black happen to the more widely available ones.
The screen sizes vary between the different series in the Envy lineup. That basically ranges from 14 to 17 inches. The IPS LED display is also something that is very vivid and throws up great colors. Viewing angles are very good as well. As for the resolution, they feature a FHD (1920x1800) display.
A number of Envy devices boast of touch functionality. Many of the models can also be converted to tent, stand or tablet modes. The higher priced models also come with a backlit keyboard option. The trackpad supports gesture-based controls.
Features of HP Envy lineup
While Intel processors are available on a majority of the Envy devices, certain models do feature AMD processors. As for Intel, you can expect Haswell and Broadwell processors from the Core series. With AMD, you can expect FX processors. Many of the devices make use of their in-built GPU while others come with a discrete graphics card, from either of Nvidia or AMD Radeon. Memory provided on the Envy notebooks is also ample. Either of 4 or 8GB memory is made available with all models. When it comes to storage options too, the Envy series comes with 500GB to 1.5TB of SATA HDD.
Primarily, the Envy series devices run Windows versions 7 and 8.1. Of late, many models are also loaded with Windows 10 after its recent launch.
The notebooks also have plenty of connectivity options. They come with Wi-Fi, WLAN and Bluetooth. Alongside, you can also expect USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, HDMI port, Ethernet port and more. An audio jack for headphone support, a microphone and web camera is also present. They also feature stereo speakers with BeatsAudio technology.
A Li-Ion battery powers the Envy notebooks and provides ample hours of usage.
HP is all set to cut down on 30,000 jobs as it plans to undergo a split in October 2015, namely HP Inc. and HP Enterprise.
