Casio was founded in the year 1946 and within a decade, launched the world’s first electronic compact calculator. This became the way for Casio and its products were resorted to this domain. With the 80s, Casio expanded its business elsewhere and forayed into making musical instruments. This was also the time when it started to make wrist watches, for which, it would receive a lot of fame.

Popularity in India

In India, the market for digital and video cameras is primarily dominated by a few companies. These also happen to popular Japanese brands such as Canon, Nikon, Panasonic and Sony. Although there are other brands out there that offer great functionalities, people usually prefer to stick to these tried and tested brands.

With Casio too, this is the case. The company does have a presence in the country, but it lacks in marketing and services. There are very few Casio service centers around the country, which is one reason why it hasn’t made it big in the present market.

When it comes to the design, Casio digital cameras can be very pretty innovative. Although many models stick to the general appearance of any normal digital camera, some of them do have a certain style quotient about them, especially those in the lifestyle category.

All cameras are basically compact cameras and have their lenses adorning the front portion. The opposite side has an LCD screen that allows one to view photos and videos, and is either 2.7 or 3 inches in size. This side also has several buttons that have many different settings and functions. The top portion houses the shutter button, with the flash being present on the front. The EXILIM branding can be clearly seen too.

Much of buildup material consists of plastic and metal, and is pretty light in weight too. They also arrive in numerous color options that add to the charm.
