About Lenovo Essential

Lenovo Desktops

Lenovo Group Ltd, which is based in China and America, is basically a computer device manufacturer. The company is certainly the world’s largest vendor when it comes to the personal computer category. Besides this, they are also known to design and market a number of other technology products.

History of Lenovo Desktops

Lenovo kicked off in the year 1984 under the name of New Technology Developer Inc. and would later name itself to Legend Group. Its first PC was called the Legend PC and that happened to be launched in 1990. Gradually the company started to increase operations and even entered the server business five years later.

The company entered overseas markets in 2003 and called rebranded itself as Lenovo. Within the next two years, it bought IBM’s PC division, meaning it had a license to design and produce the ThinkCentre line of desktops. Besides this, it also designs the IdeaCentre line of PCs.

Popularity in India

Lenovo happens to be the largest and also among the most reliable PC brands in the world. With regards to this, it also has a good market share in India. Lenovo models, being largely affordable, are some of the most sought after desktops too.

Also, Lenovo’s after sales service is noteworthy. In fact, the company offers many service locations and stores in the entire country. The durability of its products makes it a great option for budget minded Indian consumers.

Design of Lenovo Desktops

Just like other manufacturers, Lenovo’s desktop models are largely classified into tower, all-in-one and small factor PCs. Most machines are manufactured using carbon fiber, metal (usually the case with the chassis) and plastic. As a result, the desktops are pretty lightweight. Another good point about their design is that they tend to occupy less space, meaning you can avoid clutter on your desk.

Another popular option is the all-in-one desktops. These just come with a monitor, with the mouse and keyboard. The screen size varies largely depending on the model one selects and ranges between 19 and 20 inches. The resolutions offered are HD or higher. These screens are also available in touch operated options and have IPS LED technology.

A separate Lenovo keyboard and mouse is provided for input functions. This may even be a wireless model, depending on the model of purchase.

Features of Lenovo Desktops

Both the IdeaCentre and ThinkCentre desktops come with a lot of features. For starters, they are powered by either Intel or AMD processors. Again, many Intel processor types are available, such as Pentium, Core i series, and Celeron. For AMD powered desktops, the A-Series line is mostly used.

The desktops are provided with large chunks of primary memory. Most devices make use of at least 4GB of RAM. One can also choose to expand this as per needs. Storage capacity is also something that varies, but is between 500GB and 2TB. Also, one can choose SSDs and SSHDs a means of storage if they want to avoid HDDs.

For connectivity, there are many different options. The models offer wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Certain specific models are also known to offer NFC. For wired options and ports, there are USB, Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, card reader, microphone and headphone jack. The all-in-one models may also come with an HD webcam that can assist one with video calling.

As for the operating system, most models are known to run Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. However, these are all presently upgradeable to the next higher release, i.e. Windows 10.

Lenovo Desktops News

Lenovo has now partnered with Razer for the design and release of gaming desktop models. This will basically be tweaks on the already existing Y series machines.
