About Lexus Cars
Being amongst the leading luxury marquees in the automobile industry, Lexus cars are dominating multiple markets worldwide. With a range of models spreading from top-end consumer vehicles to high-end luxury sports cars, Lexus is bringing it all over to India.
Lexus Cars Thinking Beyond Hybrid Models for India
Competing against the biggest names in the industry, Lexus functions as Toyota's luxury extension. Lexus cars are a decisive step above Toyota in their outputs concentrating more on value-for-features instead of sheer affordability. They bring their global success over to a highly prospective Indian market.
A Japanese Luxury Manufacturer
Eiji Toyoda's vision of manufacturing the world's best car is realized as what is now the Lexus brand. However, back in 1983, this was simply the Flagship One or F1 project, still a long way from becoming Lexus.
Toyota was already coming up as one of the biggest names in the automobile industry, especially in the American markets. The competition was fierce in the entry and mid-end mass passenger vehicle.
Toyota's obvious aim was to hit higher standards, foray into the luxury markets. This is what fuelled Eiji's F1 project back then. However, Toyota was among the last of the Japanese manufacturers to come up with a luxury brand along with the likes of Nissan and Honda being already in the picture.
These Japanese manufacturers left no stones unturned and conducted extensive market research. They placed their designers in the posh American Laguna Beach area to create a consumer profile of the upper class. They fixed their design specifics primarily on luxury and elegance.
The brand name Lexus comes up in 1989 with its first production model, the LS 400. With the F1 project costing more than $1 billion along with multi-million marketing and advertising campaigns, Toyota set high expectations for themselves. For the first time, German auto giants BMW and Mercedes found it hard competing against Lexus's top-end and high-tech offerings.
On a global scale, Lexus ends up notching 650,000+ sales in 2016. This is a handsome 4% increase over their figures in 2015. Lexus cars continue the 4th successive year of their personal record statistics.
2016 saw China becoming their first market region to amass more than 100,000 units. Their other important markets include Japan, Europe, and the USA.
Lexus continues to increase their market foray in South-East Asia with a strong concentration in the Indian market.
Lexus the Brand and its Popularity
Just as their logo deems, they continue to concentrate on luxury and technology. For buyers, these Japanese manufacturers are all about proper value-for-features and with industry-leading tech integration.
Again, their design typically merges modern edges with essential Japanese notes. This separate brand identity is another reason behind their rising popularity.
Lexus Cars in India
Lexus models are officially available from 4 dealerships spreading across Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore with 2 of them in the capital. There are 3 Lexus cars on offer including the ES sedan, RX, and LX SUVs.
