Xiaomi Mi Max 2 to launch in India on July 18, press invites sent
Xiaomi is all geared to launch the Mi Max 2 in India on July 18. The Chinese manufacturer has issued press invites for the unveiling of the handset at an event organized in Delhi. The Mi Max 2 was first launched in China in May 2017. The smartphone is packed with a 6.44-inch FHD display, 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, Snapdragon 625 SoC and a whopping 5,300mAh battery. The price and availability will be known when it launches on July 18.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 which is a successor to the Xiaomi Mi Max was launched in China in May this year and ever since then, it has been avidly awaited for a launch in the world's second largest smartphone market, India. Lately, the company kept the hype building up for a series of tweets on the imminent launch of the device in the country. But now the official date for its launch is out, which is July 18.
To this effect, the Chinese manufacturer has started sending press invites to the media houses. The unveiling event will be held in Delhi. Like always, Xiaomi hasn't revealed the name of the handset, but considering the terminology used in the invite, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will see the light at the event.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 flaunts an aluminium unibody design with a 6.44-inch full HD display just as big as its predecessor. Pumping power from under the hood is a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC hooked to 4GB RAM and 64GB/ 128GB internal storage. In China, both the 64GB and 128GB variants were introduced. However, it is not clear if both the storage versions will also make their debut in India.
In the imaging department, the Mi Max 2 tacks on a 12MP camera at the back with PDAF, HDR, f/2.2 aperture and dual LED flash. On the front, it attaches a 5MP camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video chatting. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat underneath the MIUI 8 skin.
The Mi Max 2 derives fuel from a hefty 5,300mAh battery supported with Quick Charge 3.0 that ensures up to 68 percent juice just in one hour of charge. For the connectivity options, the smartphone supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and hybrid dual SIM slots. Other highlights include IR Blaster, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
So far, no price details are revealed. However, it is expected to fall in the same ballpark of its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi Max from last year. The Mi Max was launched in India for Rs 14,999 and Rs 19,999 for 3GB+32GB and 4GB+128GB models respectively.
