Vivo V3 is now available at Rs. 14,980 in India following a Rs. 3,000 price cutback

Just around 4 months after its launch in India Vivo V3 has seen a massive price cut of Rs. 3,000. Vivo V3 was released in the early April with a price tag of Rs 17,980 and now after the cutback, it is priced at Rs. 14,980. The new price is effective from the immediate effect across all the online and offline retail stores. The company attributes this reduction in price to the upcoming festive season in India. Vivo V3 comes with a 5-inch 720p HD display, Snapdragon 612 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 13MP/8MP camera setup.

Although Vivo is one of the top five global smartphone vendors, the Chinese brand is relatively a late entrant to India's burgeoning budget smartphone market which is already teeming with its fellow Chinese brands. In a highly competitive market, Vivo is trying to get things right to gain traction. In the latest bid to win over customers, the company has slashed the price of Vivo V3 smartphone launched in early April this year. And the price reduction is huge to the tune of Rs. 3,000. Earlier it was priced at Rs. 17,980 but after the trim, it is priced at Rs 14,980. Vivo has issued a statement saying that the price cut has been done in view of the upcoming festive season in India.

To refresh the memory lets take a quick round-up of the specs that Vivo V3 offers to the Indian customers. The Vivo V3 features a 5-inch 720p HD display, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC powers the handset that runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop topped with Vivo's own Funtouch UI. As for the camera unit, it includes a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. The phone has support for 4G LTE and VoLTE. A 2550mAh battery backs the phone.

The Vivo V3Max was also launched alongside Vivo V3, with some bumped up specs in terms of battery, display size and resolution, memory and processor with a price tag of Rs. 23,980. However, the price cut only applies to Vivo V3. The new price of Vivo V3 is effective on an immediate basis across all the offline retails as well as the online e-commerce partners.

Although, the company has ascribed the reason for a price reduction to the coming festive season, the real reason, however, is different. Vivo is known to price its product a bit higher in China. The same pricing structure for India can't be a good idea. Since the beginning, Vivo V3 was viewed to be overpriced for the specs it offered. Now as it comes with a price cut, it might build up sales. But still, it comes in the range of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Honor 5X that offer full HD display and some of the better specs.
