MediaTek reveals Meizu PRO 7 to ship with Helio X30 SoC
Adding legitimacy to the previous rumours, MediaTek accidentally revealed that their in-house Helio X30 SoC will debut with the Meizu PRO 7, due for a release in the second half of 2017. The Helio X30 processor is made from 10nm process, hence it will be on par with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC. The flagship Meizu PRO 7 is also touted to feature a secondary display and dual rear camera setup. A bigger version, the Meizu PRO 7 Plus is also on the table.
The upcoming Meizu PRO 7 is at the center of attraction for long, especially for its rumoured secondary display and the speculated MediaTek Helio X30 SoC. However, there is no official confirmation about any of the features or the specs of the handset. Now it seems we have the first credible confirmation, although not official, about the processor of the Meizu PRO 7. MediaTek, while revealing its revenue figures for the month of June, accidentally confirmed that the Meizu PRO 7 will indeed be powered by the Helio X30 SoC.
MediaTek shared that its net revenue for the last month stood at 21.89 billion Yuan(Approx. Rs 208 billion), which is up from 18.37 billion Yuan (Approx. Rs 175 billion) accumulated in the month of May. The documents to this effect also made references to Meizu PRO 7 and the Helio X30 chipset amply giving away that the impending device will pack the Helio X30 SoC made by MediaTek chip exporter.
This will also make Meizu the first OEM to use the MediaTek Helio X30 SoC which is basically an answer for the current Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Samsung Exynos 8895 SoC which are made by the 10nm FinFET technology.
The deca-core Helio X30 consists of two Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.5GHz, four Cortex-A53s cores clocked at 2.2GHz and another four Cortex-A35s running at 1.9GHz. It manages up to 8GB RAM, 4K displays and UFS 2.1 storage, and at the same time it has support for 3x carrier aggregation and LTE cat-10.
Another feature of the Meizu PRO 7 that is talked about is the rear-mounted secondary display. Earlier it was speculated to be an E-ink display, but recent leaks have confirmed that the secondary display is, in fact, a colour LCD screen which is fully functional like the front display.
If rumours are to be valued, the Meizu PRO 7 will pack a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p front display, up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, 3,060mAh battery and dual rear camera setup which mounts a pair of 12MP sensors in a combination of Sony IMX386 and IMX286 lenses. On the front, a 16MP selfie camera will find its place. Rumour has it, the bigger variant Meizu PRO 7 Plus with a 5.7-inch display and same set of specs is also on the card.
Adding more juice to our curiosity, the pricing details of both the versions are leaked. The 6GB+128GB variant of the Meizu PRO 7 will be priced at about 2,799 Yuan (Approx. Rs 26,610) while the 8GB+128GB variant will cost 3,299 Yuan (Approx. Rs 31,363).
On the other hand, the Meizu PRO 7 Plus is likely to launch in three memory configuration. The base 4GB+64GB model will start selling at 3,299 Yuan (Approx. Rs.26,610), the 6GB+128GB will tag a price of 3,599 Yuan (Approx. Rs 34,215) and the top-end model with 8GB+128GB configuration will cost 3,799 Yuan (Approx. Rs 36,117).
