About Maruti Suzuki APV

The Maruti Suzuki APV-(All Purpose Vehicle), was a new utilitarian minivan which the automakers introduced hoping to bring them success which their previous Versa couldn't. In terms of looks, it proved to be the maker's best commuter yet in terms of looks and spaciousness.

The Maruti Suzuki APV Could Launch In India as a Better 'Versa'

The Maruti Suzuki APV hosted a versatile platform with accommodation capacity of 8 passengers. This boxy shape APV in many ways was like a comeback in the MPV segment and with its overall presentation it did appear to be a good rival for the likes of Tavera and Xylo.

An Overview

This all-purpose vehicle 1st came out in the year 2004 and in very short time gathered immense popularity. Merging performance and utility in a splendid package, customers found this model to be quite apt for their various traveling requirements.

Another great thing which appealed to customers was that it was one of the few models which had more than 7 seats. In the starting phase, it underwent manufacturing in Japan and assembling in Indonesia.

Before its launch, the company had launched the Versa, but despite price cuts and adequate amount of endorsement, it didn't feature well. With their APV, the automakers did try and resurrect their stature in the MUV segment. They did so extremely well in regions of Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Dominican Republic, Australia, Japan, and many other states.

The model still hasn't come out in India. However, it did feature at the Jakarta Motor Show and holds a possibility of launching soon.

Highlights of Its Impressive Specs and Features

The Maruti Suzuki APV did score fairly well in its feature segment. It came with a MacPherson strut and coil spring layout while its rear suspension hosted leaf springs upon a stout axle. Steering came in the form of rack and pinion for its braking system; the model consisted disc up front and drums at its back end.

Performance wise both engine and transmission are tuned in a way to meet all needs of riders. It generates low - end torque which did prove great for quick start-ups and stop-go in urban traffics. Furthermore, customers also appreciated its long tracks and wheelbase which accounted for its superior handling and suave steering.

Other smart specs of this APV include- remote boot release, rear defogger, EBD, ABS, traction control, parking sensors, and electronic stability program.

People - Friendly Designing

The Maruti Suzuki APV holds a clean and distinctive designing much in an oddball kind of a way. It comes with a TECT structural body with the ability to redirect collision impact. Its door holds side impact beams, and its inside translates as a roomy cabinet with foldable rear seats.

With this model, the automakers ensured to make it about 18 cm wider and a meter and a half longer to their earlier Versa. From designing angle, this model appeared people - friendly, and that led to its impressive sales.

Pros and Cons

  • Seat capacity of 8 passengers
  • Easy Cornering and natural feel like steering
  • Good cargo space

  • Vinyl roof lining is substandard
  • Ground clearance is not good
  • Average seats

Future Visions

The Maruti Suzuki APV is not available in India (which is most unfortunate). However, there are rumours of making an entry into India probably in a petrol variant. So one would have wait for further updates.
