Lenovo K8 Note launched first in India
In its voyage, the Lenovo K8 Note has first landed in India. The smartphone will be available for purchase exclusively at Amazon India at a starting price of Rs. 12,999 from August 18. With the Lenovo K8 Note, Lenovo has also jumped the dual camera bandwagon. The smartphone is also the first to use stock Android after the company ditched its Vibe Pure UI. The K8 Note features a 5.5-inch FHD display, Helio X-20 SoC, 3GB/4GB RAM and 13MP+5MP dual rear camera module.
Following a raft of leaks and rumours, the Lenovo K8 Note has finally seen the light in India targeting the ever growing affordable mid-range segment. The smartphone is the successor to the Lenovo K6 Note, but it is christened as Lenovo K8 Note bypassing the number "7". The number skipping, however, is not new. We have seen the sequel to the Galaxy Note5 being named as Galaxy Note7 and more recently the OnePlus 3T successor was named as OnePlus 5.
The Lenovo K8 Note has a few highlighting features to boast of. The smartphone is first from Lenovo to join the dual camera bandwagon. It features a dual rear camera setup comprised of a 13MP sensor and another 5MP depth sensor to click images with bokeh effect. On the front, it mounts a 13MP camera for selfie buffs. While the rear camera unit is supported by dual-LED CCT flash the front camera is accompanied by an LED flash.
Another worth-mentioning aspect of the Lenovo K8 Note is that it comes with the 7.1.1 stock Android without Vibe Pure UI running on top. The Lenovo K8 Note is the first offering from Lenovo to go with stock Android. Lenovo recently announced that it has decided to do away with the custom Vibe UI based on the customers' feedback. Lenovo says the stock Android on its smartphones will allow users a smoother and less bloatware infested interface experience with timely updates.
Moving on to the other specs, the Lenovo K8 Note rocks a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display layered with Gorilla Glass protection. Pumping power from under the hood is a deca-core MediaTek Helio X23 SoC with two sets of four cores clocked at 1.4GHz and 1.85GHz and the remaining two cores clocked at 2.3GHz. Bolstering the processor is 3GB/4GB RAM along with 32GB/64GB default storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
There are two variants of the Lenovo K8 Note in terms of RAM and storage configuration. The 3GB RAM+32GB storage version is priced at Rs. 12,999 while the 4GB RAM+64GB storage model can be snagged at Rs. 13,999. The handset is an Amazon-exclusive and can only be up for purchase starting August 18. Talking about the colour options, the Lenovo K8 Note is clad in Venom Black and Fine Gold colours.
The smartphone is kept ticking with a sizeable 4,000mAh non-removable battery and it is bundled with 15W rapid charger. The battery can last up to 24.7 hours of talk time and a whopping 378 hours of standby time. The standard connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, micro-USB and 3.5mm audio jack. The device doesn't come with hybrid SIM slots, thus allowing users to use two nano SIM cards as well as a microSD card, all at a time.
For the launch offers, the buyers who are IDEA subscribers can get 64GB data coupled with unlimited call facility at just Rs. 343. The buyers can also take home Moto sports headphone worth Rs. 1599 at just Rs. 699. Additionally, they can also get an 80% discount (up to Rs. 300) on Amazon e-books purchase.
Interestingly, the Lenovo K8 Note has made its debut in India first. As of now, there is no word when the smartphone will be launched worldwide. However, we expect it will happen soon.
