About Hyundai Accent

Summary

Hyundai Accent is a compact sedan engineered to deliver high performance and quality drive experience to car lovers. The model is appreciated for its unbeatable mileage, safety, and affordability. Despite being the oldest in Hyundai's league, it still retains its charm amongst Indian and worldwide consumers.

Hyundai Accent Endures to Win Hearts both Locally and Globally!

Hyundai Accent was the answer to many sedan lovers wanting a sub-compact sedan that doesn't cut corners. The model hosted a really impressive design and innovative driver-friendliness for easy gear unloading. Plus, its roominess accounts for a peaceful riding experience.

Accent's 1st Generation and Follow-Ups

Hyundai's 1st gen Accent (The X3) was first launched by South Korea in 1994 replacing the Excel. In 1996 and 1998, around 44,000 models were sold out. Statistics prove that during this time, the Accent was the 3rd most popular selling models around and owned a market share of 5.5% approx. Many even label it as a record figure for that period.

Its 2nd generation (The LC) came out in 1999 and continued for 6 years. 2005 saw the 3rd gen of Hyundai Accent (The MC) which lasted till 2011. During this phase, Hyundai also launched their 1st hybrid model of this series.

Noteworthy features

The main luring point of all Accent models is that they are all feature-laden and tech-terrific. From one-touch turn signals, height adjustable driver seat, cruise control and steering wheel mounted controls to traction control, vehicle stability management, pretensioners, and load limiters; everything is included.

Its impressive features extend to its engine as well. A transverse F–WD DOHC with D-CCVT engine (engine capacity ranging from 1.3 L I4 – 1.6 L 16-valve) gives out 103 kW and 167 Nm. This configuration appeals to most consumer-friendly car seekers.

It also comes with dual diagonal and split circuit power assisting EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) and BAS (Brake Assist System). Ventilated disc and solid disc at its rear ensures adequate braking features. These along with many more passenger-centric features resulted in its huge sales figures and massive acceptance.

Designs!

The Accent also did not cut slack in terms of its designing. Hosting a safe contemporary peripheral design and a sophisticated interior appeal, this model did provide a tough competition to its rivals namely Corolla, Aveo LT, Yaris, and co.

Jewel style projector headlamps with LED accents, stylistic tinted glass with windshield sunshade bands, vanity mirrors and a light weight body for better mobility, these proved to be the high selling points of the Accent. Furthermore, its 60-40 seat arrangement was something most consumers appreciated in their models.

Advantages of this model:

  • A smooth ride experience
  • Fuel efficiency
  • Agile cornering
  • Comfortable in-cab

Cons:

  • Similar in design
  • Lacks new-gen telematics

New Releases and Old Models for Sale

All Hyundai Accent line-ups (starting from 1994) experienced stable sales and still labels as the automaker's best-selling vehicles till date. Presently, Accent 4th gen (the RB) maintains its strong popularity and its 5th gen (Grand i10) is scheduled for launch in 2017 fall. With the looks of its sales record, there are no surprises that it will too make a significant mark amongst car lovers, both in India and world-wide.
